Euchre resumes
at Granton

The Medway Euchre Club
resumed meetings Tuesday
afternoon at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. John Forrest.
Prize winners were the

ship and officiated, when the

The Rev. Pierce took his
sermon from the scripture
lesson taken from Joshua
24:14-18 and Ephesians
5:15-20 and 6:4. Entitling his
message "As for me, and my
house". Our families are the
dearest persons in our lives.
The family is older than any
institution on earth, before
government or church", said
Rev. Pierce. Parents give
your children guidance and
direction. We should be mak-
ing our children aware of the
fact that God exists and loves
them.

Church the Rev. Peter Der-
rick was in charge of the mor-
ning prayer service assisted

The two lessons were read
by Lisa Moore and the Rec-
tor. The Rev. Derrick preach-
ed his sermon on Paul's work
in Thessalonica. "Integrity is
something you do, what you
say, so you should share the
Gospel with other people just
as Jesus did.
The St. Thomas Church An-
nual Bazaar will be held on
Saturday, November 10 from
2-4 p.m. in the Church Hall.

Concern about the costly
awards made to persons in-
jured in accidents, some well
over a million dollars, pro-
mpted the Huron -Perth Coun-
ty Roman Catholic Separate
School Board to increase its
liability insurance policy at a
board meeting in Dublin,
Monday.
In the event of a serious ac-
cident such as one involving
either a board -owned
automobile, or a non -board -
owned automobile, or a bus
accident or a critically in-
jured student in a school gym-
nasius mishap, the board up-
ped its liability policy.from $5
million to $lo million at a total
cost of $762.00 per year.
The board renewed through
Leeson -Killer Insurance of
Stratford all its insurance
policies for another year
beginning October 2, 1984 at a
renewal premium of $22,796,
up from $20,350 last year.
The Board will respond
with a submission to a request
from the Commission on the
Financing of Elementary and
Secondary Education in On-
tario. This brief, 10 copies of
it, must be in the Commis-
sions office by January 31,
1985. The trustees gave no in-
dication of what proposals
may be made.
At a special board meeting
next Monday the fate of Im-
maculate Conception School
in Stratford, the board will
hear the report of the Board
Accommodation Review
Committee. This committee
Kippen clubs meet

The Kippen I and Kippen
III 4-1-1 clubs, otherwise
known as the Fitness
Fanatics and the Heart
Beaters, challenged each
other to a bowling tourna-
ment. We met at Nobel's
bowling lanes in Seaforth, and
split up into three teams with
12 members, four leaders and
one guest. After two games,
the scores were added up and
averaged.
The Fitness Fanatics had
the edge over the Heart
Beaters by nine points. Karen
DeJong won a prize for
lowest bowler with 162. Janet
Hoggarth obtained the
highest with 268. We then
went to Jane Papple's house
where the Fitness Fanatics
had prepared a nutritious
lunch.

prize for the lucky plate. and

Accommodation Review
Committee which was form-
ed in May to investigate the
possible consolidation of
Stratford's five separate
schools. The enrolment
statistics and projections
were examined and parents
and ratepayers interviewed
through a survey and public
meetings. The Community
committee recommended the
closing of Immaculate Con-
ception separate school, leav-
ing four schools, St.
Michael's, St. Aloysius, St.
Joseph's and S t . Ambrose in
the four quadr.tnts of the city.
Now the whole board will
hear the report from its Ac-
commodation Review Com-
mittee on Monday night and
briefs from ratepayers on the
situation.
Immaculate Conception
School opened in 1923 and has
an enrolment this year of 134
students.
A professional development
day will be held Friday at St.
Michael's School on Physical
and Health Education.
The board went into com-
mittee of the whole at 10:20
p.m. at the end of the general
meeting.
