Times Advocate, 1984-10-10, Page 11Times -Advocate, October 10, 1984 Page 11 Blue Water Auxiliary plans November bazaar; WI reports on rally Last Tuesday evening, Oc- tober 3 the Blue Water Rest Houle Auxiliary held their monthly meeting at the home . with 18 members present. Entertalnment was provided by Mozart Gelinas Jr, playing the guitar with daughter Aimee on the piano. In the absence of president Margaret Gingerich, first vice Marie Gelinas Sr. chaired the meeting. Anne Flaxbard reported that nine birthday cards and one sym- pathy were sent out in September. Gertie Fleischauer brought in the Christmas gifts for the residents which are to be wrapped now. The Zehrs cash register tapes are to be counted up. Plans for the upcoming Bazaar on Saturday, November 10 were made, and volunteers were assigned for various jobs that day. Posters are being made to put around town. Zurich WI Ethel Gable chaired the Oc- tober W.I. meeting. Dorothy Breakey read a poem Harvest Time. Ethel recited a humorous story. Everyone read a sermonette previously handed out by Dorothy. For Cultural Activities Dorothy gave a very informative and interesting talk op the eskimo. They will be available at the area conven- tion in St. Marys, November 1 and 2. An invitation to Seaforth was declined because of other commitments. Baptism A family get-together was held at the home of Jerome and Carmel Sweeney o0 Sun- day, October 7 in honour of lit- tle granddaughter Tiffany Rose Eybergen's baptismal, daughter of Dan and Carrie, Waterloo. Relatives on both sides attended and god- parents ate Mary -Kay MacArthur, Waterloo and Kevin Sweelney, Vanastre. Personals Several ladies from the Zurich United Church Women's group attended a meeting, program and social hour hosted by the Crediton U.C.W. last Thursday evening. Members of the Senior Citizens club in town (Golden Agers attended the Fall Ral- ly in Dashwood held at the Community Centre on Oc- tober 4 and all enjoyed lunch and games. Several members of the Zurich Mennonite Church at- tended a seminar for married couples last Tuesday with talks given by Brian and Angela Richardson of Lon- don. Several young couples of the M.Y.F. group made a retreat at Chesley Lake over the long weekend. Dave and Suzanne Bell of Tecumseh, spent the Thanksgiving weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. An- drew Rau and relatives in the area. George Farwell from Van- couver is presently visiting with his dad, Clarence Farwell at the Maple Woods Apartments, also friends and relatives around the area. Congratulations to those celebrating anniversaries this past week. Ken and Virginia Steckle, RR 2 Zurich celebrated their eighth an- niversary last weekend in Toronto, and also attended a telephone convention. Our new couple in town, Ken and Arlene Seyler (at the store) were married 21 years on Fri- day. Jerome and Helene Ducharme also celebrated their 21st anniversary on Saturday. Butch and Helen Regier spent the holiday weekend visiting with relatives in Windsor. A good time was had by all at the rec league ball banquet and dance at the arena on Saturday night with a delicious turkey supper and music afterwards provided by Free Wheelin. Bonnie Schenk, Patti Rau, Donna Caers and Mary -Lou Turkheim all enjoyed going to a hair show in Kitchener on Monday, October 1 held at Bingeman Park and got a chance to see all the latest hair styles and cuts. Mr. and Mrs. Marc Gelinas and family, London spent from Saturday to Monday at her parents cottage in Bayfield and all attended the baptismal of Tiffany on ,Sunday. Marie Denomme, Zurich and her sister, Uleen Rowland of London spent the previous week in Quebec with Mrs. Suzanne Madore, travelling by train as far as Montreal then by bus the rest of the way. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Rau and Mr. and Mrs. John Denomme recently enjoyed a bus trip for a few days to Eldon House. Sandra Overholt and two daughters of London spent the long weekend with her parents, Phil and Vonnie Overholt while husband Joe is away on a fishing trip. Jim Parkins and Ted and Edgar Steinbach spent a few days dong a bit of fishing and resting at a cottage on Manitoulin Island. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bridle and Joanne spent the holiday weekend up north near Dyer's Bay. Dr. Wallace is back to work after a nice restful holiday. May we offer our sincere sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Theodorus Soudant who pass ed away suddenly on Satur- day, especially to his wife Ida. Congratulations to Rose - Mary and Ivan Bedard, Hen- sall on the arrival of their third child "Lance Ulrich Percy Bedard". Proud grand- parents are Percy and Marie Bedard Sr. Zurich and Ulrich and Anna Duttman, Hensall. Visitors with Mrs. Myrtle Deitz from last Thursday to Wednesday are her three sisters from Dearborne Michigan. Mrs. Juliette Denomme returned home last Thursday after spending a week in Kit- chener visiting with her sons and families. May we offer our sympathy to Stanley Smith, RR 2 Zurich on the loss of his brother Gor- don Smith, who passed away on October 6, as the two brothers were well known to many in this area. Also to the family of Wilfred Mousseau who passed away. Theresa Start, Josie Dietrich and Kay Hay were among a group from Dashwood who enjoyed a bus trip to Collingwood and various places last Wednesday. Barb Rag, RR 2 Zurich along with her sister Mary Helen from London spent a few days this past week with another sister, Beverly Mor- ris and family in Lake Orion, Michigan. Trueman Fisher has returned home to Saskat- chewan after spending a month here visiting with his two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Thiel and Mrs. Leona Reichert and their families. Mrs. Therese Stark and family spent Sunday and Monday in Windsor with her son and daughter-in-law David and Carolyn Stark and two girls and all enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner together. Justin has already picked out his new helmet. olden Although the weather has been nothing to crow about, we hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Residents spent an interesting morning on Monday when they were involved in a spelling bee. I wouldn't be surprised if they couldn't spell down some of our teenagers. On Tuesday evening, the Ladies Auxiliary held their October meeting commnc- ing with a program in the din- ing room. Mozart Gelinas Jr., entertained by singing ac- companied by himself on the guitar. Aimee Gelinas played some piano solos and Mary Lou Erb gave two readings on Thanksgiving. Following the program, refreshments were Jlmp$ eo enjoyed. The sympathy of residents and staff is extended to the family of the late Mrs. Bella Snell. We thank Mrs. Ruby Neeb for her donation of fresh beets, also anyone else that may have given donations that I am unaware of. On Wednesday afternoon, we were pleased to have Mr. John Warner of the adjoining apartments entertain the residents with his piano renditions. We regret that Mrs. Brint- nell is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
