Dearing available. No other
goalies showed yet and Dear-
ing too has been missing due
to baseball playoff
commitments.
Returning from the defen-
sive corps of last year are
Mark Kirk and Steve Prout.
Skates to fill includethose of
league all-star Kris Bedard,
Rick Lindenfield and George
Tomes. Several prospects are
available and while they may
lack the skills of the retirees,
they certainly bring plenty in
the way of size in the likes of
Bill Fisher, Sean Whiteford,
Trevor Johnston, Dennis
Johnston and Ahmad Osman.
Returning forward include
all-star Bill Glover, who will
be undertaking sonic
coaching assistance as well.
along with Scott Brintnell,
Jeff Rowe, Tony Jones and
Steve Batten.

before also ending up on the
injury list.
Word at cam. on Sunday
Area hockey fans wont
have long to wait to see
aspirants for the 1984-115 Ex-
eter 'Junior "D" Hawks in.
game action.
The defending league
champs will host the Thed-
ford Browns in an exhibition
test at the Huron Park arena
this Sunday afternoon at 4:30.
Coach Doug Latta won't be
the only rookie on the bench
in that contest. He'll by look-
ing at several new faces to fill
a lineup depleted by
graduations.
However, the news is better
than expected when the
Hawks opened camp on Fri-
day. Three veterans who had
indicated plans to retire have
reconsidered and are among
those seeking spots on the
team.
Goaltending appears to be
set with Dave Rook and Pete
Dearing returning. However.
Rook is still in the camp of the
Strathroy Blades of the Junior
"B" loop and his loss would
leave the team with only
was the Brian Horner may
also return, although that
hasn't been confirmed. The
status of Mike Clark is also
unknown. He suffered a
shoulder injury in a workout
with the London Diamonds.
A good crop of Exeter
midget and juvenile
graduates has been on hand,
along with some players from
Zurich, • Hensall and Huron
Park.
Among them are Jeff Pfaff,
George Pratt, Scott Bogart,
Steve Gould, Don Hamilton,
Rick Gilfillan, Al Legoff,
Mike Bedard and Mike
Moffatt. •
Hawks president Gord Kirk
advised this week that
another Lucan Irish graduate
will join Latta to assist in the
coaching duties. He's Keith
Hattwick, a member of the
OHA championship team of
three years ago.
The Hawks practice again
tonight t Wednesdays at
liuron Park and a week from
Wednesday they travel to
Lucan to meet the Irish in an
exhibition contest.
