Usborne plans drinking group On August 14, the Township of Osborne council agreed with Attorney General Roy McMurtry and local MPP Jack Riddell's call for local establishment of a committee of local residents to discuss and formulate ideas. on the subject of drinking and driving. These local committees would deal with such areas as law, education, alternative sentencing, rehabilitation programs and communica- tions. This local organization would also be asked to take part in conventions on the subject of drinking and driv- ing from time to time. "As Mr. Riddell pointed out, as many as one in every eight drivers on the roads of Canada are legally impaired and that 2,500 people lost their lives to drinking drivers last year," commented Reeve Gerald Prout. It is for this reason that the council of the Township of Usborne ask any of their residents who may wish to sit on such a committee to telephone the administration offices and leave their names, at 235-2900. MEETING PLANNED The Ontario Corn Pro- ducers' Association has an- nounced the agenda for its semi-annual meeting to be held at Bingeman Park, just off Ilighway 7 on the east side of Kitchener on Wednesday September 5. According to Ed Kalita of West Lorne, President of the Ontario Corn Producers' Association, the program will begin at 9:30 a.m. with mor- ning presentations on crop financing. crop politics, and an Ontario cash -crop outlook.
