T -A photo. Dashwood couple back from northern jaunt By MRS. IRVIN RADER Mr.and Mrs.Ray Raderand Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Rader, Dorchester, spent a most in- teresting two weeks motoring through Northern Ontario, touring the huge pulp and paper mill at Dryden, then on to Edmonton where they visited with their niece, Karen Rader. A day spent in Jasper and Banff national Parks includ- ed a climb up Whistlers mountain where you could throw snowballs in July. A trip to the ice fields farther along cooled everyone. This has been the hottest summer the west has experienced for some time. The temperature being ninety degrees. Crops are very poor in most parts from lack of rain. A visit to the Calgary Zoo took one back into the dinosaur age. Coming home via U.S.A. gave them a chance to see the geysers and paint pots in Yellowstone park as well as seeing Old Faithful erupt. The mammoth hot springs is very interesting in color and design, Mount Rushmore is unique with its carvings on the mountain top. A tour through the caverns on the Lewis and Clarke trails was most educational but a long walk up the mountain to them. A visit to Wall Drug took one back to the days of the old west. It was great but Ontario and Huron County are still the best place to live in our opinion. Personals Vacation Bible school started today at Zion Lutheran church and will con- tinue to Friday, August 17 with the theme "God Bless Our Native Land". Mrs. Delmar Miller is superinten- dant. Over 60 children were in attendance today (Monday, August 6). Mrs. Everett Haist and Ir- vin Rader have been in South Huron hospital. George Tiernan was home for the weekend from Univer- sity hospital. Corp. Scott and MaryAnn Boyle and Shannon have been transferred from Ottawa to North Bay and are vacation- ing with Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Desjardine. Miss Ida Zimmer, Portland, Oregon, formerly of Dashwood, passed away August 3. Mr. and Mrs.EmilBecker have returned home following a nine day trip to the Maritime provinces of Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Davis, New Salem, Nova Scotia and Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Frank, Windsor, Ontario. Mrs. Wilbur Stewart, Lon- don, spent a few days with Mr: and Mrs. Jack Gaiser and girls celebrating 'a grand- daughter's birthday. Overnight guests with Mrs. Irvin Rader were Karen Miller; Zion, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben and Rubin, London. Friedsburg days are over for another year. The parade was long, varied and most in- teresting. Winners in the Senior Citizens draw were Mrs. Wilmer Desjardine, quilt; groceries, Mrs. Doug Carruthers; cushion, Mrs. Lynda O'Rourke. Miss Tammy Graham has returned home after spending a week at summer camp at Bayfield. Mrs. Von Overholt attended the funeral of her brother-in- law the late Reg. Aubin of Sea forth, Monday. Mrs. Hazel Davis was hostess Wednesday afternoon to the mothers and children of St. Patrick's Sunday School to a pool party and pot luck lunch. The swimmers all en- joyed a pleasant time in the pool until lunch nour arrived and all enjoyed a hearty meal. A short business meeting followed when final plans were made for an August I lth banquet to he served at the II - t derton Arena at 6 p.m. A hearty vote of thanks was extended to Hazel and she in- vited the Sunday School Shower at Clandeboye A shower was held for bride -to -he Christine DeWeerd at the home of Leo Vanneste. ROBERT LAING Kathy Douglas, Calgary, is holidaying with her parents, Charles and Lillian Douglas, and her brothers, Andy and George. During her vacation, Kathy has also visited friends in Montreal, New York and Toronto. Scott Zimmerman, Strat- ford, spent last week with his grandparents, Bob and Ruth Laing. Kathy Eggert, Hamilton, visited on the holiday weekend with her cousins Doreen and Alex Gardiner. STAN PRESZCATOR Mr. and Mrs. Ray Van Doreen, Sandra Smith and Diane Burkhardt of Saline and Manchester, Michigan visited with Mr. and Mrs. Karl Ohmayer, Grand Bend over the weekend.
