Legion pee wees busy
The E>ceter Legion 167 pee
wees hake been very busy the
past four weeks with three
tournaments, three regular
schedule games and three of
the exhibition variety.
Tournament results
June 9, the team travelled
to Kincardine to compete in
the Kincardine Legion tour-
nament. Goderich provided
the first opposition and the
locals lost 10-5.
Seaforth were the second
opponents with Exeter winn-
ing 14-5. This win put Exeter
into the consolation round and
the team returned Sunday,
June 10 to play Hanover, with
a disappointing performance
and kiss 14-0. Scot Russell and
Harlen Tinney supplied good
pitching for the Exeter team.
Hitting for the tournament
was provided by: Scot Russell
five singles and a double, Jeff
Chipchase four singles and
one double, Doug Clark three
singles and two doubles,
Frank Woodward two singles
and two doubles, lfarlen Tin-
ney d single, double and tri-
ple, Laurie Chalmers had a
double, Brent McDonald
three singles, Scott Bishop,
Mark Russell, David
Schwindt and Kevin Wallace
each one single.
June 23 the team competed

a score of 16-3: Scot Russell
was the pitcher. Doug Clark
and Scot Russell each had a
single.
Bothwell was the second op-
position with the locals losing
by 14-9. Haden Tinney and
Scot Russell handled the pit-
ching duties.
Getting hits for Exeter
were Scot Russell with three
singles, Kevin Wallace a
single and double, Brent
McDonald two singles, Scott
Bishop, Laurie Chalmers,
Jeff Chipchase, Doug Clark,
David Dalrymple and Harlen
Tinney with one single each.
Last tournament of the
season was in Kincardine, the
llth. Annual Young Canada,
on June 29, opposition being
Listowel. Final score was 10-7
for Listowel. Scot Russell pit-
ched the whole game. Kevin
Wallace had a double and a
single, Mark Burton two
singles and Laurie Chalmers
with one single.
June 30 saw the locals play
against Blenheim. Harlen
Tinney pitched 5 2/3 innings
with Scot Russell coming in to
finish the game. Providing
the hitting was Kevin Wallace
with a triple and double, Doug
Clark a double and single,
Mark Burton two singles,
Peter Lerikos and Mark
Russell each had a triple,
Brent McDonald and Harlen
Pinney each had a single to
round out the hitting attack
for Exeter.
The Legion pee wees played
an exhibition game in
Dashwood. Exeter won with a
score of 7-3. Ilarlen Tinney
and Scot Russell handled the
pitching duties. Providing the
hitting was Scot Russell two
singles and a double, Laurie
Chalmers a double, Mark
Russell two singles, and Jeff
Chipchase and Frank Wood-
ward with a single each.
June 14 they played an ex-
hibition game against the
other Exeter pee wee team
with a final score of 5-4 for the
Legion team.
Harlen Tinney, Brent
McDonald and Scot Russell
pitched for the Exeter Legion
team. Hitting was provided
by Jeff Chipchase and Laurie
Chalmers each had a triple,
Peter Lerikos, Brent
McDonald, Mark Russell,
Scot Russell, and Davjd
Schwindt each had singles.
June 20 the Legion pee wees
played a regular scheduled
game against Seaforth in
Sea forth, with a disappointing
losee of 10-9. Scot Russell and
Harlen Tinney handled the
pitching duties. Providing the
hitting was Doug Clark and
Brent McDonald each with a
double, Laurie Chalmers,
Scot Russell and Frank Wood-
ward with two singles each.
Scot Bishop, David Dalrym-
ple and David Schwindt each
getting a single.
They played a regular
scheduled game in Goderich
June 25 with a final score of
15-10 for Goderich. Scot
Russell and Harlen Tinney
were the pitchers for the
game. Doug Clark had a
single and double, David
Schwindt and Harlen Tinney
each had two singles, Scot
Russell and Kevin Wallace
each had a double, and Laurie
Chalmers and Frank Wood-
ward one single each to round
out the hitting for Exeter.
Dashwood won by a score of
2-0 in an exhibition game June
28. Brent McDonald and
Ilarlen Tinney pitched for the
local team. Scot Russell had
two singles with Brent
McDonald and Kevin Wallace
each getting a single.
July 2 it was a regular
scheduled game in
Dashwood Final score was
8-7 in favour of Dashwood.

Royals won their 13th game of
the season as they edged
Lucan White Sox 3-2 in nine
innings.
The Royals opened the
scoring in the bottom of the
second. inning as Paul
McKnight led off with a
single, was sacrificed to se-
cond by Gary Skinner and ,
scored on a single by Rob
Snell. 'Dave Prout followed
with a triple which scored
Prout.

The first week of the Sports
Program kicks off to a great
start with a hike to Morrison
Tennis club
tournament
The newly formed Exeter
tennis club held its first mix-
ed doubles tournament of the
season, Sunday with 28
participants.
Bill Dinney was the winner
in the advanced class, Gayle
Little was best in the in-
termediate class, Lois
Webster took the adult begin-
ners section and Kim Murray
won for the juniors.
The new lighting system for
the tennis courts are expected
to be up and in operation by
this weekend.

both sports and Bert n' Ernie.
For non -playground
members the movie will cost

The Bert n' Ernie club also
has a fun filled week planned
with a bike rodeo, Tuesday, a
swim at Victoria Park,
Wednesday and a hike to Mor-
rison Dam, Thursday after-
noon.
Tuesday morning July 17
we will be having a profes-
sional break dance instructor
coming to the rec centre. He
will be giving a demonstra-
tion and then he will teach the
children basic break dance
steps and the safe way to
break dance.
