Flrst Nulls OuHy race
May 6, was the first race of
Hully Gully's 1984 C,MA
Motocross season, and riders
from as far away* as Van-
couver took part. Tim
Krough, Honda Canada team
rider, with 'his team-mate,
Mike Harnden competed
after completing a Honda
Motocross School at Hully
Gully on Friday and
Saturday.
Tim Krough came from
Vancouver, and Harnden
from Oshawa, and after
teaching the previous two
days, proved that they prac-
tice what they preach.
In the Open Expert class,
Dave Beatty of Sarnia finish-
ed first, Tim Krough, second,
and Harnden, third. Harnden
and Krough are the nation's
number two and number four
riders. Beatty of Sarnia had
an exceptional day,finishing
first overall in Open Expert
class and second behind
Harnden in the 250 Expert
class. One of Canada's most
'promising Senior riders,
Kevin Moore of Sudbury rode
his Honda to a first place in
Open Senior, a -first in 250
Senior and a fourth in the 125
Senior class.
The track at Hully Gully
was very fast --and the
previously quick 1 minute - 40
second lap - time barrier was
broken several times. The
fastest lap of the day was
turned in by Dave Beatty of
Sarnia with a minute -35. In
the. Senior and Expert
classes, the front-runners
were running consistent
minute -38's.
With the calibre of racing
shown at Hully Gully on Sun-
day, the Expert Nationals
coming to Hully Gully on June
17 should show some of the
best racing ever seen there.
Hully Gully's next race is a
3 -wheel ATV tri -cross style
event coming May 20, with
the next CMA Motocross
scheduled for June 3. Follow-
ing the June 3 race, the next
event is the June 17, 125 and
250 Expert National, which
will draw the best riders from
coast to coast.
Hully Gully's house league
started May 12, with begin-
ner's house league starting
Thursday night, May 30. The
house league program at'ful-
ly Gully has produced many
winners, including last year's
Senior 125 Canadian Cham-
pion, Stephen Luyks of Dor-
chester, who has been moved
into the Expert Class this
year. Many of the riders in
the winner's circle on Sunday
were. Hully Gully House
League riders and sponsored
Team riders. With the ex-
cellent racing shown Sunday,
the June 3 race promises to be
even more exciting.
