Foursomes headed by Jim DeBlock, Doug Parsons and Jim Bell won the mixed club draws during the just con- cluded year. In the men's competition, the three winning rinks were skipped by Bob Davis, Gord Ross and Gerry Smith, the latter also won the challenge bonspiel and the men's club championship. Other members of the Smith rink were vice Brian Clarke, second Bill Brock, lead Dick Dougall and spare Jon Mousseau. Presidents for the 1984-85 curling season will be Gerry Smith for the men and Jeanette McBride for the ladies. The men's club organiza- tional meeting will be held . Tuesday April 24 at 7:30 p.m. May be host for Sportsfest A decision on whether South Huron will host the an- nual Lake Huron Zone Sport- sfest in 1985 will be made following a meeting planned to discuss the project on April 30. Sportsfest runs each year in August and attracts several hundred people to compete in over 20 events. Some of the events include ball hockey, ,baseball, slow pitch, ' lawn bowling,'shuffleboard, darts, soccer, euchre, swimming, tennis, trap -shooting, T -ball, etc. Participants cover all age levels from minor athletes through to senior citizens and the emphasis is on inter - community fun, fellowship and participation 'in recrea- tion activities at low and medium skill levels. Rec director Lynne Far- quhar has invited all local sports groups and service clubs to have representatives at the April 30 meeting to discuss whether an invitation will be extended. Individuals who may be interested in assisting with the project are also invited to the rec centre meeting at 7.30 p.m. "Sportsfest is a huge under- taking and can not be con- sidered unless many people wish to become actively in- volved in its organization," she explains. "Many facilities in town and the surrounding area would be necessary to successfully operate the many events." Last year's event was held in Seaforth and the 1984 Sport- sfest is slated for Kincardine.
