Maya McCor- mick, also in grade five, Play cards at Crediton By MRS. PETER MARTIN Crediton The Crediton Womens In- stitute held their first euchre Tuesday evening with 16 tables in play. Winners were: ladies high, Dean Frayne; ladies low, Eileen Higgins; ladies lone hands, Doreen McCann; men's high, Lloyd Durr; men's low, Nelson Squire; men's lone hands, Earl Morgan. The next euchre will be held Tuesday February 7.at 8 p.m. in the town hall. February is Heart month., Give generously when d can- vasser calls on you. Mr. and Mrs: Charlie Browning Sr. have returned home from a visit to Lakeland, Florida where they stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Alf Smith. received second prize for her essay. Tracy Cocksworth, in grade six received third prize for her poem. Congratulations also go to Valerie Parkinson in grade eight, whose essay placed third, and Brian Johnson, also in grade eight, whose poem placed second. McGillivray students are to be con- gratulated for doing so well at the Zone level where competi- tion is of a high calibre. Thursday, McGillivray had a fun day at our annual winter carnival-. Mrs: Freer organized McGillivray's • Winter Carnival in which 20 teams participated. Team thirteen placed first. The members of that team were Brad McAlpine, Jennifer Hodgson, Sheri Wells, Toby Furmston, Julie Lewis, Tracy Thompson, Annette Rzan, Gerry Lynn. Team Two placed second. The members of team two were Shawn Clarke, Billy Mawson, Kirsten Van Dam,' Mark Mollard, Chris Hodgins, Cindy Neil, Honey -Lyn Gib- son. Kelly Hodgson, Heather Cocksworth, Robert Van Dam. Team fifteen placed third. Members of team fif- teen were Jennifer Ramsay, Kerrie Mclnroy, Brent Larmer, Sonya Johnson, Piet Blaauboer II, Paul Wood- - burn," Sean Morton, Bobby Mollard. Thanks to all staff members and Carol Amos, Hans Blaauboer, Chuck Johnson and Terri Robinson who worked hard to make McGillivray's 1984 Winter Carnival a success. Dashwood euchre set for tonight By MRS. IRVIN RADER A euchre party will be held Wednesday, February 1 at Dashwood Community Centre sponsored by Dashwood W.I. The weather wasn't that good but they enjoyed touring around. On their ar- riyal home Thursday they learned that Katherine's brother Tom Fraser, London, had passed away. The funeral was on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kimpel, Kitchener, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Emil Becker. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayter and Jayne, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Maguire and boys, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hayter were Sun- day guests with Mr. and Mrs. Brad Oke in their new home in London. Mrs. Albert Becker is a pa- tient in Victoria Hospital, London, where she had surgery. Joe and Judy Simpson and Patricia, Mississauga spent. the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mason.
