Gully
Thursday evening, Hully
Gully was the scene of a
private sport bike program.
Invitations were sent all over
Ontario to spot ting motorcy-
cle enthusiasts who had ex-
pressed an interest in such
motorcycles.
The show consisted of show-
ings of two popular motorcy-
cle movies, "On Any Sunday,
Part II" and "Take it to the
Limit" as well as the
presence of guest experts.
Mark Diltiott of Phoenix
Racing brought along their
special Rickman -Suzuki
Superbike and answered en-
thusiasts' questions about
handling, chassis to ing and
related cosmetic cdstomizing
of motorcycles.
Suzuki Canada was
represented by Gary Rud-
dock, who has seen quite a bit
of racing himself. Gary is ac-
tively involved in the sport as
a representative of Suzuki,
and has ice -raced, been in-
volved with motocross, and to
use his own terms, has done
his "share of pavement

Hully Gully drag racer Red
Chatterley of London was
there with the Hully Gully
NHRA Pro drag bike, and
Hully Gully staffers also
prepared a short program.
Service Manager Wayne
Dickins gave a short talk on
tuning, performance
modifications and handling
modifications that are
available. Parts Manager An-
dy Smart discussed the pro-
per tires and balancing, while
Accessory Manager Tom
Delaney and Sales Manager
Don Zalitach briefly outlined
the 'speed accessories and
sport bikes now available to
enthusiasts.
The evening's program
ended with an informal one-
on-one discussion which
allowed guests a chance to
speak to the experts in-
dividually. Hully Gully
owner, Randy Collins, com-
mented that he was pleased
with the depth of enthusiasm
in the sport market and the
positive attitudes of all pre-
sent, both guests and experts
at the show.

Sherwoods win, fie against Parkhill
The Hensall Sherwoods
gained three of a possible four
points in a home and home
series with the Parkhill
Pirates in the South Huron in-
termediate hockey league this
week.
Thursday night on . home
ice, the Sherwoods scored a
convincing 11-2 victory, but,
back in Parkhill Sunday the
two teams battled to a 7-7
draw.
In the Thursday night
romp, Jamie Caldwell led the
Hensall scoring attack with a
three goal effort while Dave
Kinsman and Scott Jesney
each scored two goals.
Getting one goal apiece
were Rob Pryde, Randy
Parker, Ken Varley, and
Terry Caldwell.
Rob Pryde, Ken Varley and
Scott Jesney were best in the
play making department with
two assists each. Helping on
one goal apiece were Dave
Kinsman, Greg Caldwell,
Jamie Caldwell, Terry
Bedard and Bob Malone.
The Parkhill goals were
registered by Brian Martin
and Dan Lagerwerf.
In Sunday's 7-7 deadlock
more than half of the game's
goals came in the second
period.
In the initial session, George
Jongeneel of Parkhill scored
the only goal.
Early in the second frame,
Jamie Caldwell counted twice
to put the Sherwoods up tem-
porarily. One goal came on an
unassisted effort and the
other on a pass from Terry
Caldwell.
Then it was the Pirates turn
and they scored twice on suc-
cessful shots by Don Mac-
Donald and Dan Hawken.
In the next two and a half
minutes the Sherwoods broke
loose with three goals. Get-
ting.away the good shots were
Terry Caldwell, Ken Varley
and Scott Jesney with Jamie
Caldwell picking up a pair of
assists.
Molting Hawks get
victory over Has Beans
The Exeter Molting Hawks
gained one s. ictory in three
starts this week in oldtimer
hockey action.
Saturday, the Hawks were
downed 4-2 by the London
North Old Devils, Sunday
they defeated the Zurich Has
Beans 7-2 and Monday night
they were on the short end of
a 7-3 score to the London
Oldtimers.
In the 4-2 loss to the London
North club, Jack Chipchase
scored both Exeter goals. One
was on an unassisted effort
and the other on a pass from
Bob Jones.
Bob McDonald was the big
sharpshooter in the 7-2 Exeter
win over Zurich with a four
goal performance. Keith
Ahrens was next with a pair
of successful shots and one
assist.
Jack Chipchase added the
seventh goal and provided
one assist while Bill Chip -
chase helped set up four goals
and Jim Russell and Jim
Pfaff each picked up one
assist.
In Monday's defeat at the
hands of the London
Oldtimers, Keith Ahrens not-
ched two goals for the Molting
Hawks. One was on a solo
dash and the other on passes
from Mike Cushman and Bill
Chipchase.
The third Exeter goal was
fired by Jack Chipchase on an
unassisted effort.
One of the London goals
was scored by Exeter resi-
dent Arnie Keskinen.

SH volleyball girls
lose in tournament
South Huron's volleyball
teams fell in league staplings
after meeting difficult teams
in Tuesday's tournament at
Stratford.
The seniors lost all their
games to defending WOSSA
champs, Stratford Central
and Wingham.
The girls felt they might

they were beating the
Ramblers until a string of
tough Central serves put a
win out of reach. In both
games SII. stuck with
Stratford.
Missed serves and general
confusion gave Wingham
their 17-15 win. South Huron
should have won this game
but Madill's confidence was
further boosted by a 15-10 se-
cond game victory.
The junior team has kept up
their respectable perfor-
mances. However against a
strong Startford Central team
Exeter seemed to give up and
lost quite easily. Their usual-
ly consistent serving was
lacking.
Coach Pat Rowe described
the games against Madill as
"not good volleyball, really
bad for both teams". The
score indicates this as South
Huron lost 15-6 then came
back to win the second game
15-2.
The young team which con-
sists mainly of first year
players has gained crucial ex-
perience in several tour-
naments. Playing in Ingersoll
last weekend the juniors lost
in the semi-finals.
Rowe marvels at her
team's ability to start off well
early in the day. South Huron
played their best volleyball in
15-12 wins over Saunders. Ex-
eter lost early leads to lose
their game against Central
Elgin and Forest.
To qualify for the quarter
finals the juniors pulled
together to defeat North Park
in two straigh games. They
lost to eventu 1 tournament
champs an ',defending
WOSSA champions from In-
gersoll. Ingersoll boasted a
majority of three year
juniors. Andrea Pearce is
South Huron's only third year
player.
Rowe hopes to give her
players the confidence to at-
tempt more spikes but is quite
pleased with their perfor-
mance thus far.
Both juniors and seniors
play exhibition games in
Seaforth tonight and in Clin-
ton on Thursday. Madill's an-
nual tournament is this
weekend and promises
several good games. Next
Tuesday South Huron is
hosting a tri -meet.
Before the period ended
Brian Martin registered for
the Pirates and the Sher -
woods went to the dressing
room with a one goal margin.
At the four minute mark of
the final period, Jeff Kelter-
born tied the score for
Parkhill and 37 seconds later
they were ahead as Dan
Hawken put the puck into the
Hensall net.
Rising to the occasion the
Sherwoods came roaring
back and with goals by Ken
Varley and Terry Caldwell on
passes from Jamie Caldwell
and Dave Kinsman were
again in front by a single goal.
With just less than two
minutes remaining Mark
Thompson converted a pass
