Enthusiasm resurged; the association made a firm decision to go ahead and build. The Carling home was purchased on November 8 1951, for $16,000 and Jensen was officially appointed construction supervisor. The hospital was back on track! When Southcott Pines offered to donate a building lot, the Exeter and Grand Bend Lion's Clubs decided to build and raffle a cottage, from the plans drawn up by Jake Swietzer. When the winning ticket was drawn in the fall, Phonse Payton of St. Marys was the lucky owner of the cottage and the Hospital Association was richer by $10,000. Meanwhile the walls of the hospital were taking shape. In June, Helge Jensen announced to the association that he would soon be ready for the electricians and plumbers. "Then", he said, "the building will really begin to step along". And step along it did.
