TIMOTHY McGUIRE On August 13, 1983, wedding vows were exchanged by Sheila Edna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Snider of Exeter and Timothy Ian, son of Mr. and Mrs. O.R. McGuire of Etobicoke. The double ring candle light ceremony was solemnized by Rev. Robert Trimble in Isl- ington United Church, Islington. The organist was Barry Gosse, and solo flautist was Elizabeth Fleming. The bride was attended by Helen Brand, Exeter, as maid of honour, who was assisted by Ruth Snider, Elliot Lake, Kelly McGuire, Etobicoke, and and Paula Marcone, Guelph and Janice Smith, Thunder Bay. Four year old twins, Lisa and Leanne Martin, friends of the family were flower girls. Located at Parker's Barbershop Mt. Carmel women learn of plant care The September meeting of the Mount Carmel Catholic Women's League was held with almost 40 members present. Guest speaker for the meeting was Jeff Dawe owner of Mimosa Horticultural Ser- vices of Mount Carmel. Mr. Dawe demonstrated various techniques on the proper care Exeter ladies view slides The October meeting of the Exeter UCW was opened with Thanksgiving poems and prayers by. leader Thelma Russell. During the business session plans were finalized for the bazaar to be held November 12 and a visit to '31-ae Water Rest Home October 25. The date for a craft, hobby and quilt show was set for April 7. Jean Pooley opened the devotional Period by reading the story of the ten lepers followed by a poem on the same theme and a Thanksgiv- ing poem. Marjorie Adams, Jean Murray and Jean Pooley presented a skit introducing this year's study theme "Jesus Means Life." Flute solos by Sharon Kirkby were greatly enjoyed by the ladies. Verna Hicks showed pic- tures of her travels through Ceylon, Thailand, India, Nepal, Kashmir and Iran. Both the pictures and com- mentary were informative and pleasing. Mabel Jeffery's group serv- ed a delicious lunch. Hurondale gals begin project Hurondale 2 has started their new 4-H Club called Looking Great! Feeling Great! The club name is The Foxy 14 Fitness Freaks. Leaders are Mary Gardiner and Sandy Strang. Members of the club are Wendy Ballan- tyne, Sandra Cottle, Deb Down, Shauna Gardiner, Tammy Howe, Nancy Jane Jeffery, Janet Kints, Joanne Kints, Julie Lamport, Kelly Ann Manders, Tracy Oke, Lisa Rundle, Donna Smith, Theresa Van Wieren, and Karen Westlake. Town Topics Mrs. Darlene Gaudet and Tami left Saturday for their home in Dartmouth, Nova, Scotia after spending three weeks visiting Darlene's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Brintnell of Wingham and relatives in the Exeter area. Gerald and Marie Hamilton visited their daughter Marilyn and Wayne Keillor, grandsons Jeff and Eric in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta for two weeks, also their cousins in Calgary. While there they visited Jasper and enjoyed the scenery in the Rockies. The women of the Crediton United Church held a Thanksgiving dinner October 6 to which they graciously in- vited the Mount Carmei C.W.L. It was a delicious meal with a delightful pro- gram afterwards with 32 ladies from Mount Carmel at- tending this supper. Guest speaker for the Oc- tober meeting was a seminarian named Mike Michon. This young man talk- ed about his vocation to the priesthood, his studies and daily routines at school. Also the different processes of be- ing ordained. It was a very in- formative and interesting meeting. More plans were discussed for the Christmas bazaar to be held November 8 in the Mount Carmel school gym.
