•Old St. Nick
sy Daryl Cor4y
McGillivray Pubik School
Old Saint Nick is the fat-
test
But he won't give gifts to
the baddest.
He has milk and cookies
to eat
And gives gifts to people
who are asleep
As soon as the gifts are
under the tree.
He will go up the old
chimney.
When he's up he will
jump in his sleigh
And then off he will be on
his way.
When he's given presents
to the good girls and boys
He will go home and start
making more toys.
It's quite. a job for old
Saint Nick
But at least he has his
helpful sidekicks!

Christmas
By Kaitlyn Krahn
Exeter Public School
Poinsettia, mistletoe,
stockings and even bells,
Christmas is near,
December 25 brings lots
of cheer
With a jolly laugh he
comes under the moon
and over the sky,
Santa's reindeer pull him
through the dark sky,
Waiting until morning is
nigh,
Going to house one by one
and setting presents
under the tree,
The children's faces will
glow with glee,
When they awake they
will now know,
Santa has come with no
coal.
December 26, children
say,
I wish it was Christmas
Day.

A Christmas to
Remember
By Breanna Becker
St Boniface School
Sparkly Christmas lights
standing in a row;
Santa whispering Ho1Ho!
Ho!
Beautiful presents
wrapped in a bow,
Christmas carolers
singing in the snow!
I see some red and green
holly,
Everyone is so jolly!
Santa loves his cookies
and milk, -
He also loves wearing red
silk!
Baby Jesus laying in the
hay,
Christmas is on it's way,
Hip, hip, hurray!
Joyfully the angels sing,
I see the gentle baby king!
The Christmas Lights are
all aglow,
Don't forget the mistletoe!
I see children skating on
the ice,
I smell sugar and spice!
Santa and his reindeer
are all aflight,
I hear the bells ringing in
the night!
Now, it is Christmas day,
Have a happy holiday!

The Journey to
Bethlehem
By Mishit Coleman, Gr. 4
Huron Centennial School
I am the donkey, the
donkey that took Mary
and Joseph to Bethlehem -
the donkey that has a very
special story to tell all of
you children and, adults.
One cool winter
December morning, Mary
and Joseph got a letter. It
was tax season of course,
and that is what the letter
was all about.
The letter said: Dear
Mary and Joseph - You
have to be in Bethlehem
by Sunday, the 21st of
December to pay your
taxes! Mary and Joseph
thought that was alright,
but how would they get to
Bethlehem? They talked it
all over, and finally decid-
ed they would ask their
neighbour, John, if they
could borrow one of his
donkeys.
They went to John's
house and asked him,
"John, could we borrow
one of your donkeys to get
to Bethlehem and pay our
taxes?" He said, "Yes,
there should be one in the
barn."
Mary and Joseph said,
"Thank you," and then
left.
(This is where I come in.)
We walked for a long
time. (I, the donkey, am
going to be talking for a
little bit now.)
Finally we came to
Bethlehem. There were
lots and lots of people
there. Mary and Joseph
tied me up to a post, and
then went up and knocked
on the innkeeper's door.
The innkeeper opened the
door and said, in a friendly
voice, "Hello."
Mary and Joseph said,
"Hello" back and then they
asked for a room. The
innkeeper said, "I am
sorry. We have no more
room, but if you wanted

to," he paused for a sec-
ond, "you could sleep in
our barn behind the inn."
"Thank you," Mary said
very quietly, for she was
expecting a baby anytime.
As soon as we reached
the barn: they made the
manger into a crib and put
straw into it to make it soft
for the new baby.
Hour after hour passed.
Finally, it was time: time
for the baby to come. They
named him Jesus. He was
