South Huron District High School Gr. I I drama students Cassandra Triebner, left,
Holly Seabrook, Robyn Etherington, Brandon DePapp,Tyler Feagan, Gord Radford
and Emily Hawkins strike a pose during their 'Land of the Misfits' skit, part of the
class's Children's Theatre show it presented to South Huron area elementary
schools on Monday and Tuesday. The students came up with their own ideas,
developed them and then wrote, propped, made costumes .and blocked the skits
themselves.Teacher Glenda Burrell said the class had no budget to produce the
show so it was a lot like community theatre."It's just an incredible group," she
said. The students learned many lessons developing the show including how to
take constructive criticism - each student came up with their own idea for a skit
so many ideas had to be dropped. "It took a lot of cooperation,' Hawkins said.
What did Seabrook learn? "Compromise," she said simply. (photo/Craig Bradford)

Christmas Eve
By Lauren Taylor, Gr. 5
Exeter Public School
It was Christmas Eve and
everyone was asleep,
Not even the dog was
making a peep,
Santa slid through the
chimney landing on his
feet,
I think Santa's really neat.
He left us dolls, fire
trucks, candy canes and
even a sled,
I love sledding, I dream
about it in my bed,
At last it was morning
and I hurried to. see what
was under the tree,
My sister and J raced
down the stairs, she
almost beat me,
There were wonderful
things left by Santa and I
hope he left them with
glee.

Christmas
By Eric Armitage
St. Patrick's School
Christmas Day with my
family is always a blast,
because I love the joy of
seeing the faces on little
kids when they `open pre-
sents. I once had that
look, and I still do. I also
like getting presents and
thanking the people. I
think everybody should
thank everybody else for
their. gifts because it is
always nice to get but it's
better to give than to get.
One good thing about
Christmas is the Santa
Claus parades, because
you get to see all the dif-
ferent floats that go by.
What I would like to
know is how does Santa fit
down the chimney when
everyone says he is so
big? I have never 4 n
seen him but I think ue :s
very jolly and he likes milk.
and cookies. I know that
because on Christmas Eve
he eats and drinks all the
milk and cookies that we
put out. He deserves it
because he travels almost
all night. I would be hun-
gry too if I travelled
almost all night.
Santa isn't the only per-
son who comes on
Christmas Day. Jesus was
born on Christmas and I
think he should be
thought of just as much as
Santa is thought of. So this
year when you get pre-
sents, make sure that you
think of both Santa and
our God's son, our sav-
iour, Jesus Christ.

Mike's Christmas
By Ryan Consist, Gr. 3
Hensall Public School
The night before
Christmas when Mike was
in bed sleeping, he heard
a loud noise. Mike won-
dered wh$t it was. Mike
went downstairs to check
It out. When Mike got
downstairs, he saw some-
thing in a red outfit. Mike
couldn't believe his eyes.
It was Santa Claus.
Then Mike said hello to
Santa. "Oh, Mike you
scared me. Why are you
-up? Did you hear a
noise?" "Yes I did. I
thought that was my dog
Buttons". "Mike, do you
want to go on the sled?"
Mike said, "Sure, I
would like to."
"Then let's go!"
Mike said "OK".
When Mike and: Santa
got to the second house,
Mike said "What's that?"
Santa said, "That's
Justin's dog, so be quiet
Mike."
Mike said "OK".
Then Mike noticed
something, that the dog
woke up.
Santa said "Oh, oh.
Hurry, let's fly."
Mike said, "Fly?"
"Ya, let's go."
Then they went up in
the air. Then Santa said it
is time to go home.
When Mike and Santa
got home, Santa said
goodbye. Mike said good-
bye.
Then Mike said, "Oh,
Santa, that was my best
Christmas ever."
Sights of Christmas
By Ashley Erb, Gr. 8
Zurich Public School
Snow is blowing
through the air,
Shoppers bustling
everywhere.
Kids . are playing in the
snow,
You should see their
faces glow.
Christmas lights are
glowing bright,
With the stars' twinkling
light.
Santa should be on his
way,
Soon it will be Christmas
Day.
Children wake up Filled
with glee,
Toys everywhere are
what they see.
Dolls, clothes, games
and blocks,
Candy canes, books and
socks.
Next Christmas is not
too near,
'Cause Christmas comes
just once each year.
Christmas
By Sadie McCann, Gr. 5
Mt Carmel School
Mary, mother of Jesus,
the son
Jesus has never sinned:
not one, none
God decided to send his
only Son down
He sent him to
Bethlehem, a special town
He sent him to forgive our
sins and make us better
He did a great job, you
could call him the straight
setter.
