Chiefs axe Acton, almost beatAylmer
The Exeter Juvenile
Chiefs won a game they
maybe should have lost
and lost a. game they
might have won last
week.
The Chiefs were on the
right end of a 5-2 game in
Acton Saturday. Playing
shorthanded with only
two lines due to many
players at the Palmerston
high school hockey tour-
nament, the Chiefs faced
a vastly different Acton
team that soundly beat
Exeter earlier in the sea-
son.
"We were lucky," Chiefs
manager John Rasenberg
said. "Acton must have
been sleeping."
Michael Wilhelm led the
Chiefs offensively with
two goals. Single goals
were scored by Andrew
Mauer, Chad Monteith
and Ryan Carroll with
assists by Monteith, Scott
Rasenberg and Greg
Hendricks.
On Sunday in Aylmer,
the Chiefs were 16 sec-
onds away from a tie
when Aylmer burst
Exeter's bubble with the
winning goal. The Chiefs
couldn't hold onto the 2-1
lead they had going into
the third period.
Shawn Stuckless scored
both Exeter goals with
assists by Tyler Obre and
Hendricks.
Rasenberg said many of
his players were tired,
adding Atiylmer`s Saturday
game versus Six Nations.

help out in the Chiefs 5-2
win in Acton (for the
Chiefs story, see else-
where in Sports). Scott
Musser was unavailable
for the high school tour-
ney due to illness.
The Panthers took it to
the Wildcats in their 4-0
consolation semi-final
win. South Huron scored
two goals in the first peri-
od and two in the second
and fended off the
Wildcats in the third.
Lord was the offensive
star for the Panthers with
two goals and an assist.
Keys had a goal and an
assist while Devries had
the other
and scored.
Up 1-0 after two peri-
ods, Banting expanded
their lead a few minutes
into the final frame.
Stuckless gave South
Huron some hope . by
scoring with a hard slap
shot from the point with
six minutes left. The
Panthers evened the
score with 2:30 left on a
goal from J.R. Davies
assisted by Mosurinjohn
and Brandon Martin.

final to Norwell. Soldan
said the fact two Huron -
Perth teams made it so
far in the tournament
against "reputable" urban
teams and teams who
have been in the Huron -

of school hockey here.
"The South Huron
Panther boys are con-

last week, the Panthers
