News from South
Huron Hospital
Dr. Doug Hoover
Restructuring of our Huron Perth Hospital
Partnership is continuing, and the past couple
of weeks have seen some major changes in
our leadership structure. Our hospital is see-
ing many changes. For example,
Jean Mair, Director of Finance
and Sherry Broderick, Director of
Laboratories have both decided to
leave South Huron, after many
years of faithful service. We wish
them the best in their new
endeavours. UIowever, along with
the reshaping of management 'n
there are also appointments to be
made. The Board is very pleased
to have seen Maureen Cole posi-
tioned as the Clinical Site Leader. Maureen is
now responsible for all clinical services
including, for example, nursing, physiothera-
py, clinical nutrition and registration. Othe,
new faces include Dan Meidinger who will be
responsible for finance, health records, infor-
mation systems, and material management for
three hospitals, South Huron, Clinton and
Alexandra Marine and General in Goderich.
Rick Bedard is responsible for laboratory and
diagnostic imaging services at these three
sites as well. Dan Duncan is responsible for
housekeeping, linen, maintenance and food
services in Clinton and Exeter. Welcome to
all. Our search for a physiotherapist to
replace Ian McCrae also continues.
In this month's column I would also like to
address concerns regarding the new Doctors
building. It needs to be stated that the build-
ing across the street.from the hospital has not
been sold, nor is there any intent to evict the
present tenants. The rumour mill has certainly
been active. Furthermore, the hospital has
not entered into any agreement, secret or oth-
erwise to develop this site. We certainly want
a medical group practice facility to be done.
well and at a cost that our hospital and com-'
munity can •bear. A Request for Information
(RFI) has been forwarded to several qualified
experienced companies who may possess the
appropriate design knowledge and/or project
management skills to make the building
become one step closer to reality. We are also
actively seeking a partner to share the neces-
sary financing and to develop and fund the
operation of the business. Interested parties
can contact Janice Cosgrove, Vice President at
235-4002 ext. 256. At long last I really feel
that progress is being made, and I will attempt
to keep our community well informed on a
timely basis. I was very refreshed to learn
that there are many individuals, groups, and
businesses that are eager to help. You will be
called upon, as this project can only succeed
through a community effort.
