washrooms. The plans call for a small basement for
record storage and mechanical uses.
There are also tentative plans for a second storey that
could add between 2,000-3,000 sq. ft. to the library.
Library redevelopment committee member and town
councillor George Robertson said more information on
the second floor option as well as more complete plans
should be available in three weeks.
The total project is pegged at $800,000 including
$62,000 for landscaping, $637,000 for the library itself
and $109,000 for miscellaneous other costs. •

program changes. Last year, council donated
$2,500 to the event.
Sheppard. and Gray were invited back to
the Dec. 6 council meeting to present further
financial information.
Council approved the. request for 11

A charity volleyball tournament on the
main beach July 8 could help a Local charity
and the Windsor Regional Hospital.
Derek Schroeder, Charity Beach Tour co-
ordinator, told council the event is a program
of the Windsor outreach employment ser-
vices for disabled people. It has been held at
venues in southern Ontario for the past three
years to raise money for the program.
Charity Beach Tour partners with Local
charities who help run the tournament and
receive part of the proceeds for their efforts.
Maguire said because the Charity Beach
Tour organization is based so far away from
Grand Bend, he would like to see a financial
statement documenting its work.
Council approved the volleyball tournament
to be held on July 8, 2000, upon receipt of
this year's financial distribution information.
Council also approved, in principle, a spe-
cial event application for "An Evening on the
Pier" for the Friends of the (2001 Canada
Summer) Games proposed by Dave
Scatcherd.

important to remember the whole idea of
having a medical clinic in Exeter is to attract
new doctors to the area. He also added that
he didn't think a medical clinic should be so
comprehensive that it results in the hospi-
tal's closure. He said things such as labs and
x-ray machines shouldn't be put in the clinic
because it could infringe on the hospital's
territory.
"You don't want to cut off your nose to
spite your face," he said.
Ile also said too much emphasis has been
put on putting the clinic on the Professional
Building's property. For one, he says, there
aren't enough parking spots there.
"I don't feel that property is the right prop-
erty because I don't think it's large enough."
Armstrong said he has compiled a list of
12 other potential locations for a medical
clinic but he doesn't want to specify them
yet.
administrative officer Rick Hundey said they have pur-
sued such grants but the project hasn't qualified for any
yet.
Rumoursthe federal and provincial governments
were going to renew the federal -provincial -municipal
infrastructure grant program have also failed to solidify.
Hundey did say there are 10-12 "foundations", he is
looking into for money towards the project and that he'll
give provincial grants another go round.
So far the town has set aside $100,000 for the new
library and council may decide to spend some of the
$240,000 provincial Special Circumstances Fund grant
it received earlier in the year on the project. Plans for a
fund-raising campaign will be announced sometime
next month, Robertson said.
Later in the meeting Hundey sought council's support
to pass a motion giving the library redevelopment com-
mittee to continuing pursue the province for a
Millennium grant for the project.
Those who want to contribute to the new library can
do so by dropping donations at town hall during busi-
ness hours (9 a.m.-5 p.m.). Charitable receipts are still
library plans
available for both this tax year and next.
Earlier in the month Huron County council found out
the original 4,700 sq. ft. new Exeter library was just half
as big as formulas the library board showed was needed
due to the library's economic impact and population
served. The library redevelopment committee feels
those space concerns have been addressed with shared
space with the town hall and other adjustments to the
original plans.
The current library, built in 1912, has outgrown its
2,400 sq. ft. of usable space.
