A short Cenotaph service was held after the regular Service&iThe Laying of the Wreaths was Fir Bill McAsh repre- senting the Veterans, Ivan McClymont representing the L.O.L. and Jack Coleman for Stanley Township. Valerie Laurie played the last post on her trumpet. Happy Anniversary to Scott and Brenda Consitt. There will be a Sunday School meeting regarding the church Christmas concert on Nov. 11 . The Trends meet Friday Nov. 12 at Brucefield at 7 p.m. The Teens meet at Brucefield on Saturday Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. to see a video . Nov. 25, there will be a board meeting at Varna at 8 p.m. The first Sunday of Advent is Nov. 28th. Volunteers are needed to light the Advent Candles each week. The Varna U.C.W. held their Nov. meeting last week with president Deb Rathwell opening the meeting with a reading "Great Faith is Born of Trials". Bonnie Roy, Eleanor McAsh and Marilyn Kalbfleisch were in charge of the devotion, the theme being Remembrance Day on Medals and Models. The cookbooks "Let's Break Bread" are still selling. Correspondence was read. McAsh thanked everyone for the wonderful meal served at their 60th wedding anniversary and a written thank you was also read from her daugh- ter Peggy Morrison. A thank you was also read from John and Emely Coultis Bayfield Fair Board is doing a fundraiser for the parade. Wreaths are on sale for $20 on Laureate Degree received EXETER - Alpha Tau Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi were guests of their sister chap- ter Beta Theta at their meeting on Oct. 12 at the home of Joy Darling. Verla Russell was assisted by Rosemary Schaefer and Jay Skillender in conducting the ritual for the Beta Theta members receiving the Laureate Degree. They also !ed the Silver Circle service for members who had completed 25 years in Beta Sigma Phi. Nov. 2, 19 members and one guest gath- ered at the home of Bev Delbridge. June Essery introduced Faye Van Oss of Unique Design Baskets. In addition to her display of Christmas baskets, she had Christmas wreaths, angels for the tree, and stocking stuffers. Rosemary Schaefer reported on the upcoming project for the Canadian Society.. The next meeting will be on Nov. 16 at the home of Maida Gaiser. Verla Russell gave the process necessary for those eligible to receive the Master's Degree. Seniors plan for Christmas banquet EXETER - On November 2, 54 senior citi- zens sat down to a bountiful pot luck sup- per. President Lois McFalls opened the meeting with "Today Thoughts". June Hodgson gave a report on the Senior Games. Anyone interested in winter sports such as skating is asked to call her. Door prize winners were Grace Ballantyne, Don Stuart, Pat Campbell, Leona Hern. Music. was provided by Paul McNaughton and his group. Ruth Skinner gave a reading on "The Poppy" and the Riverview Linedancers showed their talent.. The Christmas banquet is on December 7 at 6:30 p.m.at the Exeter Legion at a cost of $10.00 per ticket. Next meeting will be Dec. 2 with a potluck supper at 6 p.m. for mem- bers, former members and friends with Carol Simons, Janet Webster, Joan Beierling and Mary Ostrom in charge.
