Homeowner Fred Willimott noticed a smoky smell at about 10:25 p.m. and called the fire depart- ment several minutes later. Chief John Morgan said firefighters remained at the scene for an hour and a half The unofficial damage to the roof area was esti- mated 'at $2,500 although the insurance adjuster had _notgiven ;their.estimate at press. Morgan listed the cause as an electrical problem in the home's wiring. Willimott, a Wellington St resident for 10 years, said he has insurance. (photo/Craig Brod ford) ZurishWI tour ARC Industries DASHWOOD = The Zurich Women's Institute held their November meeting at Arc Industries in Dashwood. President Joan Smith conducted the business. Roll call was answered by 10 members with "a Canadian product I am wearing". After enjoying pie and ice cream, a tour of the build- ing was taken. The next meeting will be a turkey dinner at the bowling alley on December 6 at 12:30. Phone Josephine Denomme no later than one week prior to the meeting if you plan to attend. You may bring a guest. WI tours DASHWOOD - On November 2 the Dashwood Women's Institute met at Hayter's Turkey Produce dressed in white smocks and hair nets. Joanne McGuire guided the group on a tour through the differ- ent processes that meat goes through until it reaches the table. The group returned to Aldene Wolfe's home for the program. The roll call was to describe your I.P.M. souvenir. The sec- retary's, treasurer's and London Area Convention reports were read. On November 9 there will be a Board meeting. An invitation was read from Blue Water Rest Home. The program motto ey rai was `To live well, one must eat well." Members and visitors were guided on a big turkey hunt, imi- tating sounds and actions. Dorothy Restemayer read "In 'Flanders Fields" and 'Lest We Forget" and presented each with a red poppy. They were reminded of the two minute wave of silence on November 11 to demonstrate faith in the past ~and hope with con- tinued peace. - Each received an apple and told the roles that apples play. Games of Uno were played. Each member received a pair of work gloves before they departed. Golden Agers learn aboutAdult Day Centre GRAND BEND - The Grand Bend Golden Agers Luncheon was catered by Shirley Eagleson's group. Audrey Tibbetts introduced Anne Rollings who spoke about the Adult Day Centre for Huron. Another day on Wednesday will be opened as Monday is filled up at this time.Volunteers at the Centre are needed and drivers too, to pick-up the people and take them home again. President Ron thanked Rollings and gave her .a cheque from the Seniors for her work at the Centre. Share the Wealth draw had $70. to share with the members.and the Senior account. Meeting -closed after, an inquiry about what to do about woodpeckers that eat holes in:houses. Keith Haynes said that a good way to stop that was to put a feeder up with peanut butter on it. Lions Corner Donations from the Exeter Lions include: $1,000 to Hensall Public School playground equipment; $1,000 to Precious Blood playground equipment; $718.91 to Scouts registration and training; and $200 to the Huron Hurricane Swimming Club. The Exeter Lions Club thanks everyone who helped at the gates at the International Plowing Match. New members welcomed into the Lions are Rob Haines and Paul Alcock. Panther Profile... The bus will be leaving at 8 a.m. and returning at 4 p.m. There will be an Armed Forces Presentation for graduating students who are interested in going into that area of study on Nov. 18.
