Brussels Livestock sales report
Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the
week ending Oct. 23 were 6004 head of cattle
and 256 lambs and goats.
The fed steers and heifers sold $1.00 higher
with cows selling on a steady market. Veal sold
S2-$5 higher. Lambs sold fully steady. All
weights of stocker cattle sold steady to last
week.
There were 611 steers on offer selling 90.00
to 95.00 with sales to 104.50.
Two limo steers consigned by Leggdale Acres
Ltd., Chesley averaging 1035 lbs. sold to Garry
Bowen Livestock for 104.50.
A limo steer consigned by Schmidt Brooks
Farms Inc., Woodstock weighing 1410 lbs. sold
to Norwich Packers for 102.00 with their over-
all offering of 12 steers averaging 1481 lbs. sell-
ing for an average of 95.72.
Two steers consigned by Jerry Cronin; Dublin
averaging 1380 lbs. sold for an average of
98.12 with sales to 99.50.
Six steers consigned by Jeff Mollard, Parkhill
averaging 1449 lbs. sold for an average of
95.02 with sales to 97.75.
Twenty-two steers consigned by Bob
Robinson, Ailsa Craig averaging 1281 lbs. sold
for an average of 94.95 with sales to 98.25.
Forty-two steers consigned by Jim Howatt,
Londesborough averaging 1356 lbs. sold for an
average of 94.83 with sales to 99.50.
Nineteen steers consigned by Kada Farms,
Bluevale averaging 1434 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of 94.41 with sales to 99.75.
Twenty-eight steers consigned by Murray
Shiell, Wingham averaging 1372 lbs. sold for an
average of 93.31 with sales to 98.75.
Sixteen steers consigned by Gord Hern,
Granton averaging 1445 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of 92.20 with sales to 97.75.
There were 265 heifers on offer selling from
90.00 to 95.00 to the high of 100.50.
Two gold heifers consigned by John Polo
Limited, Guelph averaging 1185 lbs. sold for
100.50 to Dominion Meats with their overall
offering of 24 heifers averaging 1236 lbs. selling
for an average of 92.66.
One gold heifer consigned by Ken McAlpine,
Ailsa Craig weighing 1285 lbs. sold to Norwich
Packers for 99.25 with his overall offering of six
heifers averaging 1279 lbs. selling for an aver-
age of 93:72.
Thirty-one heifers consigned by Merkley
Farm. Wroxeter averaging 1264 lbs. sold for an
average of 95.07 with sales to 96.25.
One black heifer consigned by Jeff Cormack.
Mount Forest weighing 1255 lbs. sold for 95.00.
Seven heifers consigned by Ronland Farms,
Stratford averaging 1205 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of 94.15 with sales to 96.25.
Eight heifers consigned by Gerald Rathwell,
Brucefleld averaging 1219 lbs. sold for an aver-
age of 92.03 with sales to 94.75.
There were 258 cows on offer selling: D1 and
D2 cows, 54.00 to 59.00 sales to 70.00. D3 cows

Charolais Ltd., Ripley weighing 1705 lbs. sold
for 65.50.

The market at Denfield trad-
ed on a very strong demand at
$2.00 to $5.00 higher on all
classes of fed cattle with
American orders strong at
sharply higher prices. Cows
sold steady, stockers strong at
fully steady prices. Veal higher,
pigs, sows and boars steady.
