(photo/Craig Bradford) Panther field hockey still undefeated EXETER — South Huron District High School's field hockey team continued its winning ways with a pair of 2-0 wins over St. Marys and Listowel on Oct. 7: In the first game versus St. Marys, the Panthers dominated play but once again couldn't capitalize on many of their chances. Heidi Muller scored the first goal, her first in Huron -Perth action, and Sarah Workman scored the insurance marker. Kelli Fulton earned the shutout in net for the Panthers and Lindsey Jean also played a strong game. In the Listowel game, Workman scored her second goal of the day with Tracy Wilson notching the second goal. South Huron coach Jim. Workman said his girls put in a strong team perfor- mance with the rookies showing good promise. South Huron finishes the regular sea- son in first place in Huron -Perth with five wins, one tie, no losses and 16 points. Goderich finished right on South Huron's heels with four wins, two ties, no losses and 14 points. The Panthers and Goderich tied 1-1 in their only meet- ing earlier in the season. Coach Workman said Goderich is South Huron's main competition going into the playoffs, adding they will be hard to beat since the Vikings have been scoring a lot of goals (7-0 win over St. Anne's last week, 9-1 over Stratford Central on Oct. 5). Workman hopes strong defence and the top notch play of Fulton will keep Goderich forwards at bay if they meet in the Huron -Perth final on Oct. 19. Before the final, both Goderich and South Huron will have to beat their semi-final foes tomorrow (Oct. 14). South Huron will either play St. Marys (two wins, four losses and six points, currently in fourth place) or St. Anne's • (one win, two ties, two losses and five points, fifth place with their last game versus last place Stratford Central sett for yesterday after press) at Exete'r Community Park at 2 p.m. and Goderich will take on Mitchell (four wins, two losses and 12 points, third place). Listowel finished in fifth place and out of the playoffs along with Stratford Central. The Huron -Perth winner will move on to the WOSSA championship tourna- ment at Middlesex on Oct. 22-23 with OFFSA set for Nov. 4-6. pa A C?:{tial <:4•X• • {?:e.0 ..................... ......:.F.FF::rr}.:%:..:...:r`.'r'.:::::rr.x%:•r..:.2•r::5?$?:+:!f?a • F • sv. x•; Senior Tyke Golden Hawks Oct. 8 - Exeter 3 at Merton 3 Goals: Steve Morgan (2), Hayden Cann Assists: Tyler Bryson, Carly Winters.
