LUCAN — The Lucan Jr.

inspired by the pre -game
ceremonies before their
home opener versus
Parkhill North Middlesex.
Before the game, the
Irish players who played
last season on the, all -
Ontario champions were
on hand for the handing
over of the championship
banner by Jr. D league
chairperson Karen
Phibbs.
Former captain Mike
Jaremchenko, former
assistant captains Greg
Henderson and Mark
Phillips and this year's
captain, Chad Greenlee.
accepted the banner.
Last season's players
also were given their
championship rings.
Lucan then went on to
nail the Stars 7-3.
Lucan scored five goals
in the first period, the
first four of them on the
powerplay, while' North
Middlesex managed to get
two goals by Irish goal -
tender Jon Wickens.
Kevin Dunbar scored
Lucan's first goal 2:33
into the first from
Greenlee. Greenlee made
it 2-0 on an unassisted
goal at 7:01. Scott
Wheatley made it 3-0 a
scant 41 seconds later
from Roy Davis.
The Stars got one back
at 8:23 but Ben Dobbie
restored Lucan's three
goal lead at 12:52 from
Greenlee and Dunbar.
North Middlesex scored
their own powerplay goal
at 15:19 but the Irish
restored their three -goal
cushion when Greenlee
scored an even strength
marker from Dobbie and

At Seaforth on Friday,
Irish rookie goaltender
(and local minor hockey
product) Mike Harding
almost notched his first
shutout in his first start
with the club in a 3-1 win.
Lucan's powerplay was
hot again providing their
last two goals.
Dunbar got the Irish ball
rolling 3:52 into the first
period with assists going
to Greenlee and Smith.

up 2-0 on the powerplay

extra insurance goal with
3:37 left in the second

Seaforth scored mid-
way through the third

interesting and spoil

Bourne said Seaforth

Both Davis and Phillips
were thrown out of the
game in the late stages
due to fighting majors.
Although Lucan has
recovered from losing
their first game of the
year to win three straight,
Bourne .said there's some
fine tuning to do.
"We're still finding our
game yet," he said. "The
lines aren't set yet."
Though the wins came
at the expense of what at
the beginning of the sea-

Jason Bukala was quick
to add Seaforth may sur-
prise some teams that
haven't seen them yet.
He said Seaforth, who
were rumoured to be in
serious trouble of folding
up to week ago due to a
lack of players, have
added a few key players
including Frayne who
was the number one
goalie at Tavistock Jr. D
and a Bauer Division all-
