Mystery car tour
planned in Varna

VARNA CORRESPONDENT
VARNA - The Stan Lee Club members are
invited to attend the 25th Annual Fall Rally
which will be held in Dungannon Rec and
Agricultural Hall on Thursday, Sept. 30.
-Registratfonbegins at 11:15 am. Lunch at
12:15 . Registration fee is $5. The Club is
expected to contribute 3-5 minutes of pro-
gram. Zone fees of $10 are due.
Stan Lee will meet Wed, October 6 at the
Complex beginning with a pot luck supper at
6pm. If you •can play any musical instrument
or if you can create music or a beat out of
something bring it along. Wednesday, Sept. 29
the Teens will meet in Brucefield at 7:45 pm
and the
Trends will meet Friday Oct. 1st in Brucefield
from -7-:8:30 pm.
Church service will be in Goshen this Sunday
and will be in Varna on Oct. 3rd with the of
World Wide Communion.
Correction, the Five Alive Mystery Car Tour
and Pot Luck Supper is to be held Sunday Oct
3rd , not Oct. 2nd as stated in the paper last
week.Sorry for any inconvenience this may
have caused. Registration will be at 2:30 pm at
the Stanley Complex at a fee of $5 per car. The
car tour will be from 3-5 pm followed by sup-
per at the Complex.
On October 4th the Varna U.C.W. will be
hosting the Fall Rally with special speaker
Rev. Tracy Crick..

K to 7), from Oct. 10-14
and Nov. 1 at 10:15 a.m.
and 1:15 p.m. and on Oct.
15 at 10:15 a.m. For the
first time, the Blyth
Festival will also present
a. production for students

W.I. member receives Life Membership pin
KIPPEN - Rena Caldwell hosted the Kippen East W.I.
at Northcrest in Hensall on Sept. 14 with nine mem-
bers and two visitors present.
Grace Drummond, President, presented Phyllis
Parsons with a Life Membership Certificate. Mona
Alderdice pinned on the Life Membership pin while
Helen MacLean pinned on the corsage.
The Institute Ode was sung and the Mary Stewart
Collect repeated.
Lil McLellan introduced her granddaughter Sarah
McLellan who spoke about her exciting time, winning,
duties and climax of her year at the C.N.E. where all
ambassadors competed. She showed her scrapbook
which is very enlightening.
Roll Call was answered by naming a favourite fair
and bringing articles for the Children Hospital. One
50/50 winners at
lady had made over 75 finger puppets. Other items
were knitted dolls, slippers, can tops, . hangers, cards,
containers, crayons, etc.
The minutes were read and the Treasurer's and
Sunshine reports were given.
The W.I. Workshop will be in Hensall United Church
on 'Nov. 2,
County rally on Oct. 4 at the OMAFRA office with a
pot luck dinner.
Kippen East will donate prizes again to Hensall Fair
for the coconut jam tarts.
Ruby Triebner read a couple of poems. Grace Eyre
conducted a contest. Courtesies were given by Phyllis
Parsons. The meeting closed with the singing of the
Maple Leaf Forever.
Happy birthday was sung to Hilda Payne who was
celebrating her 85th birthday. Birthday cake and ice
cream were served by Phyllis Parsons and Ruby
Triebner.

ZURICH - Zurich Dining for Seniors met on.
September 1 with 34 members present.
The 50/50 winner was Marie Cyr.
Progressive euchre was played with Marj Reichert
getting high score, second high Verda Baechler, Lone
hands Sheldon Wein.
On September 8, 36 people attended the Diners pro-
gram at the hall. Gwen McKellar opened the meeting
and Norah Corriveau was the 50/50 winner.
The Tovvnlipers, consisting of Max Ducharme, Phylis
Deichert, Carly Bedard and George Mathonia, enter-
tained with lively music. Gwen McKellar thanked the
group and cards were played. •
A roast beef dinner was enjoyed by 36 senior diners
on September -15. The 50/50 winner was Tony
Denomme. `Happy Birthday' was sung to Marj
Reichert. Marg Hayter announced that there would not
be a diner program on September 22. The penny sale
will be held September 29.
On September 24 from 10 to 11 a.m. the Otterbeins
will be entertaining at the Antique stage at the-plo wing
match.

to find his vehicle was
stripped of its parts last
week while it sat in the
Hwy. 4 driveway in
Tuckersmith Twp. two
kilometres south of

16, someone stripped the
hub caps, shocks and
shock towers, brake
cables, all four wheels,
driver's seat, steering col -
umn and ignition, speak-
ers and various engine
parts from a• blue '91
Honda Prelude.
