Kings of the sea
Masters sting Curings 2-0
LONDON -- The Exeter
Masters soccer team have
finished their regular sea-
son on the upswing with a
2-0 win over host London
Curinga last week.
Paul Vandewalie scored
both Exeter goals and
keeper Colin Coburn
notched the shutout.
Exeter spokesperson
Brad Lightfoot said it was
"a real solid team effort"
and the team played
especially well defensive-
ly.
He noted defenders
John Vanderburgt, Pat
Donnelly, Alex Kollias and
Ian Chisholm played
exceptionally well.
The win caps the regu-
lar season for the Masters
who finished with a 2-9-2
record. Exeter still has to
play a yet to be scheduled
make up game at London
Marconi.
An exhibition game at
Goderich is planned for
Sept. 22 and Lightfoot
said other exhibition
games may be scheduled.
Exeter will send two yet
to be named representa-
tives to play in the 10th
anniversary Masters
league all-star game on
Oct. 2 at the London
German Canadian Club.
