Kid's Club offers child care during P.D. days

HENSALL - Hensall's Kids' Club still
fias spaces available. This program has
been in high demand in the past few
years so act early to ensure availability.
The Kids' Club offers quality care
before and/or after school for school
aged children. While the program is
located in Hensall Public School, it is not
exclusive. Accommodations can be made
for bus delivery. The program is avail-
able, full-time, part-time and on a casual
basis. Drop by Room 1 at the Hensall
public School and see what it's all about.

Plans are underway for the first P.D.
day of the year. A full-day program will
be offered on September 27. Registration
is limited. Phone 262-3025 to secure
positions for your children.
At Hensall United Church on Sunday,
Bryanne Campbell, daughter of Sheri
and Derek Campbell, received the Light
of Christ. Pirie Mitchell was the minister.
Chuck Mallette was the organist and,
Sharon and Bill Erb were the greeters
with Bill lighting the candle. Bob Erb and
son Bob received the offering. Mitchell's
message was entitled "Working With
God". The choir performed an anthem.
Next Sunday, Rev. Jim Evans will bey the
guest minister while Mitchell takes part
in an ecumenical service at Embro Fall
Fair.
Prayers were asked for Main Street
United Church in Mitchell, and donations
were asked for the Turkey Disaster
Fund. Cheques made to the United
Church of Canada and placed on the
plate will be forwarded to the London
Conference to relieve the disaster in
Turkey. The Board will meet on
September 16 at 7:30 p.m. The
International Plowing Match church ser-
vice will take place at Zurich Arena on
September 19 at 7 p.m. The guest speak-
er will be Paul Henderson.
Church photos will be taken on
September 30, October 1 and 2.

On October 3 a covenanting service will
take place at 8 p.m.

Mr. and Mrs. John Templeman of
Mitchell and cousins Pamela Swan of
Scotland and Mr. and Mrs. Reg
Templeman of Wasage Beach.
At Hensall Carmel Presbyterian Church
on Sunday, Tracy Whitson-Bahro's mes-
sage was on "Forgiveness." Dorothy
Taylor was the organist with Harry
Smith: endAI Hoggarth receiiving the
offering.
The Hensall and District Horticultural
Society is again sponsoring a
Thanksgiving Decorating Contest. It is-
open
sopen to all apartments and homes: in
Hensall and the surrounding district.
Decorations must: have a Thanksgiving
theme, not a Halloween theme.
Contestants must register before October
4 by calling 262-2715.
The October meeting of the Hensall
and District Horticultural Society will be
held on October 19. The Society is
thrilled to present Piofessor Bill Andrews
whose topic will be "Landscaping with
Nature." Everyone is welcome. This
meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the
Hensall Uniied Church. The November
meeting will be held on November 16

Sixty years ago last Friday, September
10, Canada entered World War 11 with
Britain. This was one week following
Britain. To the younger generation it
seems to long ago, but for many of us
even though a teenager at the time it is
still so fresh in our minds. 'At thegoing

will remember them.'
On September. 19 to 25 local Legions
will be celebrating Legion Week with dif-
ferent activities. On Wednesday evening,
September 8, Hensall Legion held their
first meeting of the fall season. Motions
were passed to make donations of $50 to
the Alzheimers Society and The Huron
Adult Day Centre. The Branch held a
very successful golf tournament on
September 11. A euchre tournament and
turkey raffle will be held at the Branch
on October 2.
The September meeting of the Hensall
Legion Ladies Auxiliary was held in the
Legion Hall on September 1 with
President Iva Reid presiding. Final plans
were made- for the 50th anniversary of
the Auxiliary, to be held on -October 3-,
1999. Upcoming banquets were also dis-
cussed. The Auxiliary decided to send
one team of four players to play euchre
in Wingham on September T1.
