themes: agricultural
reform, tax relief and
reform, social infra-

HENSALL -- Local resi-
dents may not know it,
but ag-chem co., Inc.'s
store south of Hensall on
Hwy. 4 serves all of the
company's eastern
Canada customers.
ag-chem, which sells
and services held an open
house last Tuesday to give
people a chance to visit
the storefront, which
opened in late May.

Bluewater celebrates ten years of recy

Bluewater Recycling
Association is recogniz-
ing its . 10th anniversary.
In September of 1989 the
Bluewater Recycling
Association began col-
lecting blue boxes from
17 municipalities, repre-
senting 11,540 house-
holds. In the first full
year of operation 2,348
tonnes of recyclables
were processed. Today
the Association operates
two facilities totaling
55,000 sq. ft., and
processes over 18,000
tonnes of recyclables
from over 70 municipali-
ties, . representing
100,000 households. The
original material recov-
ery facility near Grand
Bend employed six peo-
ple. Today the
Association employs over
70 people and uses a
fleet of 21 vehicles for
curbside collection.
While the initial blue
box program was exten-
sive for its time, collect-
ing newspaper, steel and
aluminum cans, alu'
minum foil, PET, HDPE.

Today, cardboard and
fine paper aro just stan-
dard items in the curb-
side bluebox along with
boxboard, kraft paper,
mixed resin wide mouth
tuba, empty aerosol cans,
empty paint cans and
magazines. The
Association has also
extended itself to host
special collection days for
other items such as tex-
tiles, hazardous waste,
tires, Christmas trees
and" white goods.
Other . notable mile-
stones over the last ten
years for the Association
include a move in 1994
from Grand Bend, to the
current facility in Huron
Park. The present facility
is 43,000 sq. ft. and has

Invitation to
Express Interest
for Groundwter Consulting ._
The County of Huron invites expressions of interest from
qualified persons to provide technical consulting and to
assist with project management for a groundwater study in
Huron County. The study is subject to funding approval
under the Groundwater Protection Fund of the Ontario
Ministery of Environment.
The consultant will work with and report to the
management team on all aspects of the study, including
refinement ,and interpretation of groundwater
recharge/sensitivity data, selion of pilot study areas,
development of sampling protocols and .recording
standards, selection of parameters and laboratory for
testing, selection of main study areas, training of field
researchers, analysis and interpretation of results, and
report writing.
The consultant will have substantial hydrogeological
experience and strong familiarity with and knowledge of
the County, preferably including related work experience in
the County. The ability to work with a steering committee
will be an asset and references are required.
Expressions of interest should not exceed 2 pages in
length, plus an attached list of relevant projects and
references. The expression of interest will be reviewed to
determine recipients of a more detailed Request for
Proposal.
