Committee chairman Bruce Whitmore of Seaforth said about 50 churches are involved in the service which will include a 300 voice mass choir under the direction of Margaret Whitmore. Preparations for the 7 p.m. service include hanging banners from churches throughout the county and building an area for the choir, Whitmore said. Volunteers are also helping with ushering and park- ing. Paul Henderson, a Lucknow native, will be the guest speaker. Henderson is best known for his dramatic third -period goal in the 1972 Canada -Russia hockey series. After the goal that changed his life, Henderson became a Christian and is a lay minister, motivational speaker and marriage enrichment workshop leader. "We're delighted he's coming," Whitmore told the T- A. Nine young adults from nine denominations will lead the hour and 15 minute service. If the weather is dry enough, the ball diamond and field at the Zurich Arena will be used for parking. Handicapped parking will be beside the arena and the building is wheelchair accessible. Three people will use sign language to interpret the service for the hearing-impaired. Whitmore expects 2,000 people including the choir will attend the church service which will start the IPM off on the right foot.
