Adult Day Centre needs. drivers
GRAND BEND - The Huron Adult Day Centre
meets every Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St.
John's By -the -Lake, Grand Bend. The day pro-
gram gives the frail or challenged seniors living
at home a chance to socialize and participate in a
variety of activities: ..
This month they have enjoyed sng-a-tangs Wit
guitar music by Victoria Digby, an Aloha Hawaii
day including luau as well as a day trip and picnic
in the Pinery Provincial Park. Although the centre
has a terrific bunch of volunteers who offer physi-
cal and emotional support throughout the day to
the clients, as the program has been rapidly
expanding it is in urgent need,of volunteerdrivers
to pick up participants in the morning and take
them home again at 3 p.m. All it takes is a little
patience and understanding and about 3/4 hour
morning and afternoon on Monday to help seniors
in this community.
The co-ordinator of volunteers, Mary Venner, is
anxious to hear from anyone interested in help-
ing. September is shaping up to be a busy month
with a piano sing -a -long on the 13th while on the
20th clients will be trying their hands at answer-
ing advice to the Lovelorn letters during National.
newspaper week.
A fall colour tour is being planned for the end of
the month when the leaves are changing. Anyone:
interested in becoming either a client or volu
teer should call 238-6289.
