Gather round an
Sports
Exeter Jr. D Hawks hockey hopefuls congregate to listen to a trainer during Sunday's tryout camp at Hensall
Arena. This weekend marked the first tryout skates for the '99/2000 season. Hawks head coach Andy Friyia
said the first tryout on Saturday was disappointing due to lower: than expectedattendance. Sunday's skate was
"very encouraging" since the veterans shook off some rust from Saturday's performance and more people
were out. He while it's too early to share who's in his plans and who's not, Friyia is confident a good team will
be ready by the season apener in Hensall versus Thamesford. "1 don't think the rebuilding is done yet," he said.
"(But) 1 feel we will put a competitive team on the ice." Camp will continue this and next week including three
exhibition games: at Kincardine tomorrw (Sept. 2), at Hensall on Sept. 12 at 2 p.m. versus Mitchell and at Lucan
on Sept. 15,8:15 .m.
