Approximately 500,000. Canadians of
child-bearing age have trouble conceiving.
Men and women have an equal role in this
problem. Research has shown that of normally sexually
active couples, there's only a 10% chance of starting a
pregnancy within one month; 30% will conceive in 3
Months while 50% will need six months.
There are home ovulation kits on the market to help -cou-
ples determine the optimum time for intercourse to
increase the chance of pregnancy occurring. Infertility
can be a stressful problem. There is a support group
active in Canada. Your can reach The Infertility
Awareness Association of Canada at 1-800-263-2929.
One of the common questions we get asked as pharma-
cists is "Can f have a drink with this?" Alcohol is. a cen-
tral nervous system (CNS) depressant. This means that
it reduces or slows the function of the central nervous
system Composed of the brain and spinal cord. If com-
bined with other drugs which also depress the CNS, the
effects add together causing drowsiness, sedation, dizzi-
ness and fatigue.
,Plan to attend our Diabetic Care Clinic, Friday,
September 3, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Aileen will be
demonstrating some of the new technology in blood
Glucose Meters.
