Srnoke-Free restau-
rants:The bucks
keep rolling in
HURON CTY. - Having a smoke-free restaurant con-
tributes to an increase in business, according to a
recent survey by the Huron County Health Unit.
Owners and mangers of smoke-free restaurants can
breathe easy - eliminating smoking may improve
their competitiveness. Having a smoke-free restau-
rant may keep the bucks stop rolling in.
According to the survey, restaurants with more
than 75% smoke-free seating are 1.6 times more
likely to report an increase in business than restau-
rants with less smoke-free seating. Restaurants that
are smoke free or have completely enclosed smoking
areas are more than 3 times more likely to report an
increase in business.
"We hope that restaurant owners and managers
will use this information to improve their business
and that more Huron County restaurants will go
smoke-free,* said fle.-Belt Henning, Medical Officer
of Health.
"Our results show that their business is likely to
improve if they go smoke-free." For a copy of the
results please contact the Huron County Health Unit
at 482-3416.

Ever wonder how many organ trans-

doctors transplanted 939 kidneys,
346 livers, 165 hearts, 43 double
lungs, 29 single lungs, 4 heart -lungs,

New regulations regarding tobacco packaging to take ef-
fect next year will target nitrosamines. The message that
will cover 60% of the front panel of the package will read:
"Nitrosamines cause cancer. They are the rnost active
cancer-causing agent in tobacco smoke".
If you take calcium supplements, you should take your
doses for best absorption. Controlled studies
on whether one form of calcium IS better than another
have shown that it doesn't matter. Choose one with the
,largest amount per tablet, which is calcium carbonate.
It's probably the least expensive too.
