Local team Ontario lawnbowl champs Top darters
LONDON — A women's
fours team featuring three
Exeter Lawnbowling Club
members are the Ontario
champions after winning a
tournament at the London
Fairmont Club on the
weekend.
Skip Andrea Weigand,
vice Joanne Bugler and
second Gloria McFalls call
the Exeter club home while
lead Carol Carter is from
the Seaforth club.
Weigand's team, repre-
senting District 4, narrowly
defeated District 16
(Iroquois) 10-9 in 15 ends
in their first game.
District 6 beat Weigand's
team 14-12 in game two.
Weigand's team then
rolled over District 1
(Windsor) 17-10 to
•advance to the Sunday's
action in second place.
Weigand's team next
beat District 10 (Toronto)
19-15 in a close 18 ena sin-
gle elimination gain..
That win moved
Weigand's team into the
medal round against three
other teams. Weigand's
team next handily defeated
District 12 (Agincourt) 28-5.
in14 ends to advance to
the gold medal game.
Weigand's team faced
District 3 (Woodstock) in
the final. After starting
slow in the first six ends
and down 7-1, Weigand's
team rebounded to win 21-
8 in 17 ends to wing&
tournament.

member Peter McFalls.
The team moves on to the
Canadian Championships
in Toronto Aug. 15-21.
In local play, Wayne
Wright's Chesley team won
the Royal Bank pairs tour-
nament on June 9 with

Goderich team came sec-
ond (3W46) and Bill
Furlong's Ingersoll team
was third (3W41).
Exeter's McFalls and Don
Overholt were high one
