The Tuesday -Thursday Sunshine Kids Co-operative Pre-school class held their

Residents bake for Hensall Fair
HENSALL - Hensall United Church
Women provided assistance and prizes
at Queensway Nursing Home for Bingo
Monday afternoon. Residents have
appreciated the ladies each Monday in
May. They enjoy seeing the familiar
faces and visiting with old friends. Extra
help at Bingo was provided by student
volunteers Cathy Van Bergen and Cheryl
Hoffman.
Rev. Pirie Mitchell of Hensall United
Church led Worship Service Tuesday
with Belva Fuss s pianist and Marg Cole
assisting residents.
Gladys Van Egmond and Her
Merrymakers made some beautiful
music Wednesday afternoon for resi-
dents and visitors. Everyone had a lovely
afternoon listening to the music that had
often entertained them at dances in
their youth.
Residents had opportunity to cast their
yote Thursday when the polling station
was set up at Queensway in the Activity
Room. Baking group was busy in the
morning baking bran muffins, peanut
butter cookies and banana loaves to
freeze and enter in the Hensall Fair bak-
ing competition.
Cathy Van Bergen and Cheryl Hoffman
visited again Friday to assist all those
residents desiring to go outside for
walks, wheelchair rides or just to sit out-
doors and listen to the birds. We have
appreciated their help this week. In the
evening Clare Masse, Andy Rau, and
Bob Gilmour, entertained at Friendship
Friday in the Retirement Home Lounge.
Thank you to the family members that
joined us and assisted with the dancing
adding to the fun.
Remember to order your tickets for the
Strawberry Social Wednesday, June 16
at 7 p.m. We are holding it indoors this
year in the Activity Room. This is our
annual fundraiser for the Huron County
Alzheimer Society and also your oppor-
tunity to meet our new administrator
Cathy Shalk. Gary Boyle of London will
entertain.
The week of May 17, residents of
Queensway enjoyed a variety of pro-
grams with bingo starting on Monday
with the Hensall United Church Women
contributing the prizes and assistance.
Shirley Luther led the Worship Service
on Tuesday with Belva Fuss as organist.
Millie Hoggarth of the Volunteer
Auxiliary provided Tuck Cart Service to
both Nursing and Retirement Home lev-
els Wednesday afternoon.
Geri Fashions set up shop in the
Activity Room on Friday for the shop-
ping convenience of residents ..and com-
munity.
Friday evening Harvey Smith and
Doug Insley entertained in the
Retirement Home Lounge for an appre-
ciative group of residents and volun-
teers. The played a variety of tunes as
well as many requests for their audi-
ence.
Church members to help out at London's Soup Kitchen

Marilyn Carter was in
charge of the regular
church service on Sunday
morning at Elimville.
Rev. Carter lit the Christ
Candle with the help of
Evelyn Johns. She told the
children a story entitled
"Love God, Joshua."
The choir sang an
anthem "For Him Who
Loves Me" accompanied
by pianist Marilyn
Vandenbussche.
Scriptures were read by
' Helen Weston. The title of
the minister's sermon
was "Extraordinary
Ordinary People".
Barbara Ballantyne
gave a Minute for
Missions "Generous
Living."
Kay, and David
Cunnington received the
offering. Gerald
Cunnington pushed the
cart to the front of the
church loaded with arti-
cles for the -food bank,
and Kay Cunnington was
the greeter.

There is only two weeks
left to get your commit-
ment card in for the
Voices United campaign.
This fall the Outreach
Committee from Council;
has committed one
Monday night a month for
three months to help with
the Soup Kitchen in
London. The Outreach
Committee is also looking
for a volunteer to be a
Presbyterial
Representative. If you
would like to volunteer
for either of these, contact
Barry Miller, Janis
Richardson, Sharon Lynn
or Barb Ballantyne.
On June 27 the Sunday
School will hold a promo -
ti,,,, Sunday entitled
"P 'qo, Meow and Oink".

loo►, to blow up during
the service. A potluck
lunch will follow the ser-
vice. Bring your own dish-
es and refreshments will
be supplied. After lunch
there will be a ball game
at the diamond.
On June 27, pennies
and Canadian Tire money
will be collected.
Hymn Sing Sunday win
be held July 18.
Vacation Bible-SShool, a
one day event, will be
held July 25.
The U.C.W. will be ggoing
to Blyth Festival on
September 7 to see
"Death of the Hired
Hand". It is a nostalgic
play about a threshing
gang straining to win the
battle against time and
the elements. The era of
modern farming begins.
The play begins at 8 p.m.
and optional supper plans
are being made. This will
replace the regular
U.C.W. September meet-
ing. If you are interested,
contact Sharon Passmore,
Leona Cottle, Ferne
Stewart, Sharon Lynn or
Grace Pym.

Prayer of Approach. The
Prayer of Confession and
Assurance of Pardon was
led by Earl French.
Gary Alan Price told the
children's story entitled
'Jesse's Journey'.
Bruce Delbridge read
scriptures. The choir,
under the leadership of
Rev. Robert Graham,
sang three anthems. Ellen
Graham accompanied on
the piano.
Judith Parker" intro-
duced guest speaker Gary
Alan Price, who spoke on
"Jesse's Journey - A
Father's Tribute". Don
Brine thanked him.
Several hymns were
sung accompanied by
Agnes Bray on the organ
and Ellen Graham on the
piano.
The greeters were
Dorothy Rollings and
Madelene Tasko. The
offering was received by
Joost Drost, Lorne Fell,
Gwen Harburn and
Sandra Kemp. Joyce
Fulton dedicated the
offering and led in the
Lord's Prayer. The offer-
ing was donated to
Jesse's Journey - A
Father's Tribute which
amounted to $650.
Dr. Rev. Robert Graham
pronounced the benedir-
tion and said Grace. The
group enjoyed a smorgas-
bord lunch and beverage
in the basement.

held a meeting at
