ZURICH - Plans are
underway for the Zurich
. Fair on July 23-25 with
this year's theme "Plowing
Toward the Millennium".
A fair board meeting was
held June 2 at the fray
Township Hall. President
John Geiger and treasurer
Margaret Deichert chaired
the meeting.
The new prize lists aro
available from Margaret
or at stores downtown.
Tickets for the
Elimination Draw and
:.Dance are for sale at $10
each. This event will be on
- Friday night, July 23.
The Ladies Auxiliary
held their June picnic for
the residents at the Home
on May 4. Members began
with their meeting in the
chapel at 2 p.m. with
President Gladys
Gingerich in charge.
Reports were given on
the recent May bazaar.
Volunteers were needed to
make and serve lunch for
the annual, -meeting of the
Rest Home on June 8.
Members signed a get.
well card for Jean
Armstrong who has a bro-
ken leg.
Some Auxiliary mem-
bers and staff from the
Home will be attending
the Region #3 annual
meeting in Cambridge at -
St. Luke's Place on June
10.
Lottie and Louise will
present all the men with a
fresh flower on Father's
Day at the Home.
The residents' family.
dinner will be held at the
Home on June 27.
The group will have a
booth at the Bean Festival
on August 24 where they
will sell quilt tickets.
Cecilia Farwell is in
charge of the tickets.
A birthday party will be
held June 16 at the Home,
hosted by the Crediton
United Church women.
After the meeting a
musical program was
enjoyed by everyone. The
residents were served a
meal by the Auxiliary
members.
There will be an execu-
tivemeeting at the Home
�n June 28 at 7 p.m. to
plan for the bean festival
booth. All members are
welcome to attend.
The grade eight students
of St. Boniface School and
their teacher Mr. Trocchi
and some parents went on
a two-day bus trip, to
Toronto last Tuesday and
Wednesday. They went to
the Science Centre, City
T.V., Hockey Hall of Fame,
a baseball game and a
medieval dinner.
A display of Fashions by
Gail is a fundraising event
for the youth group, to be
held -at.- St. Peter's
Lutheran Church fellow-
ship ,hall on June 13 at
2:30 p.m.
The Golden Agers had a
potluck supper at the
Township Hall on Monday
evening, which included
those taking part in the
Tri -County games. The
final event will be held in
St. Marys on June 14 and
15, ending with a banquet.
There are many partici-
pating from Zurich in sev- .
eral events.
John and Marilyn Geiger
appreciate their sponsors
for the 1999 Flame of
Hope trail ride held on
May 29 near Elmira. The
ride' raised approximately
$74,000 for Diabetes
Research. The charitable
receipts for donations over
$10 will be available in
about one month.
On June 20, the Geigers
for Zurich Fair - the prize lists are out
will saddle up again. This
time the ride is to raise
funds for SARI (Special
Ability Riding Institute -
Riding for Disabled). This
facility at Arva provides a
therapeutic riding pro-
gram for over 100 chil-
dren and adults annually
in London and the sur-
rounding area. The 20th
annual Ride/Walk-a-thon
will be held at Komoka. If
you would like to donate
to this fundraiser, please
give your donation to John
or Marilyn Geiger before
June 20. A charitable
receipt will be given for
donations of $10 or more.

Machinery Show '99 local
committee is giving away
a Northlander Park Model
home built in Exeter by.
Northlander Industries.
The home can be seen at

mother's farm. The Pillow
Heads musical group were
there to entertain.
An open house was held
in honour of Vera Shantz
who celebrated her 80th
birthday at the Rest Home
on Sunday afternoon.

Dashwood Good Companions discuss yard sales
DASHWOOD - On May 17, Dashwood
Good Companions met at the Community
Hall at 7:30 p.m. The roll call indicated
31 members were present. Secretary and
treasurer reports were given and
Florence Martene gave the card report.
A discussion was held concerning hold-
ing a yard, sale. Lorne Becker thanked
Wilmer and Martha Pfaff for the con-
struction and sale of a bird house. The
coming bus trip to Thompson Hall to see
the Seniors Jubiliee on August 20, the
monies to be in the next meeting on June
21 with a pot luck dinner at 6 p.m. A
brochure was read about the coming
tours and bus trips for the fall season.
President, Evelyn Pickering gave read-
ings and Harold Finkbeiner asked if any
additional banquet tickets were required
for June 15.
Aldene Wolfe's group will preside at the
next meeting. More readings were given
by June Rader and President Pickering,
with adjournment by Isobel Becker.
Entertainment was provided by "Little
People" of Mount Carmel.
