This is the fiddlehead season. People who
are on anticoagulation therapy should use
caution -when eating these curly -headed
fems. Flddieheads are rich in Vitamin K and can affect
the bloodtests used to monitor blood coagulation.
It's hard to appreciate the pain of a migraine headache
if you've never had one. Women are affected more often
than men but there is a bright light ahead for women. It
seems that in about 2/3 of women, the headaches
reduce significantly when they reach menopause.
There seems to be •a link between high blood pressure
and increased risk of dementia and Alzheimers. Studies
showed that the risk of dementia was halved when
blood pressure is kept under control. Had yours.checked
lately?

The incidence of asthma In children has Increased from
2.5% in 1978 to 11.2% in 1994. Why? Better diagnostic
techniques, more tightly -sealed homes (thus' greater
exposure to airbome irritants like tobacco smoke, dust
mites and pet allergens), carpets and kids's lower activi-
ty levels.
