Buddies put on talent show for Blue Water residents
ZURICH - The residents
of Blue Water Rest Home
watched "The Land of the
Tiger" and "Antarctic
Wildlife Adventure", a
National Geographic
videos and "My Fair
Lady" on the big screen in
the auditorium. Molly
Goudy donated the tiger
video for the residents to
watch. Resident Beatrice
Rader loaned the group
her video of "My Fair
Lady". On the evening of
May 17 Trinity Anglican
Church, Bayfield enter-
tained the residents in
honour of those residents
celebrating their birth-
days in May. Ross
Campbell as pianist led
'the choir. Jean Burr,
Loftus Denomme and
Margaret Jones received
gifts from the Auxiliary
and everyone sang Happy
Birthday to them.

Singers under the leader-
ship of Ann Didier sang
many familiar tunes.
Didier, Mel Norton and
Kathleen Magg sang
solos. Annie Lytle was
pianist for the choir and
the residents joined in for
many songs.
The residents boarded
the wheelchair bus on
May 19 for an outing to
Zurich Public School to
listen to their musical
comedy spring concert
"Groovy". The students
sang, acted, and looked
groovy wearinghippy
colourful costumes from
the 60's with flowers and
beads. Florence Brown,

Moore, Stewart Thiel,
Carman Lovie, Bernice
Cann, Clarence Gascho,
Donna Merner, Dorothy
Dietrich, Clara Hamilton
and Leonard Onn, with
the assistance of volun-
teer driver Jim Purvis and
Adjuvant Cathy Shantz
enjoyed the performance.
Rev. Ross Thomson, St.
Peter's Lutheran Church,
Zurich conducted chapel
service on May 20, and
communion w,as served.
Evelyn and Rev. Art
Kreuger, Church of God,
Grand Bend conducted
chapel service on May 27
with the assistance of
Millie Desjardine as
soloist. Fr. Matthias
Wronski, St. Boniface
Church, Zurich conducted
the Catholic services.
On May 20 the residents
gathered in the auditori-
um for an "Under the
Stars Party". Weather
didn't permit a court yard
activity so the black sil-
houettes of moons and
stars decorated the audi-
torium ceiling to give
everyone an outdoor feel-
ing. Tin can twinkles dec-
orated the tables. The
evening residents dis-
cussed the Milky Way,
sun, moon, northern and
morning stars and plan-
ets.
The residents enjoyed
lunch out at Millington of
Brucefield on May 21.

lunch the residents toured
the village of Bayfield and
the harbour before
returning to Zurich.
The residents enjoy
watching Sunday morning
church services on the big
screen in the auditorium
and teas in the west wing
in the afternoon. The resi-
dents have been enumer-
ated and are'ready to cast
their vote for the
Provincial election of June
3. Afternoon tea, with
bouquets of snowballs
and iris was served by
Ann McBride and Gladys
Gingerich on May 26. The
residents enjoyed their
food quiz on May 25 with
discussions of their
favourite foods and drink,

late Ruby Laverna Bell
who passed away at Blue
Water Rest Home on May
23 in her 89th year. Ruby
was well known in the
Hensall area; having
farmed and raised her
family there.

ZURICH - Forty senior diners and seven guests
enjoyed a dinner on May 25. The 50/50 draw winner
was, Josephine Denomme. Table flowers, donated by
Glena Harness, were won by Freida. Holm and Walter
Holm, guests from Ayton.
Happy birthday was sung to Elroy Desjardine, Helen
Otterbein, Ina Neeb and Theresa Stark. Happy
anniversary was sung to co-ordinator Marg Hayter.
Penny sale winners were Gwen McKellar, Josephine
Denomme, Kay Hay, Eleanor Lawrence, Francis
Ayotte, Ina Neeb, Orland Schwartzentruber, Dolly
Jeffrey, Ila O'Rourke, Carl Finkbeiner and Elizabeth

The 50/50 winner from May 19 was Mad Reichert. A
Shoreline Health Co. representative gave a very infor-
mative talk on the aids they have to assist people.
The company donated a draw prize of a hot and cold
compress which was won by Ann Flaxbard.
