AILSA CRAIG -- After several years of planning and
anticipating, Craigwiel Gardens is set to start construc-
tion on an expansion and renovation project.
The building is slated to receive a 2,000 sq. ft. addi-
tion that will double its. program activity space for the
Craigwiel Adult Day Programs. The Craigwiel Gardens'
business office will also receive a facelift.
It is estimated the total project will cost approximately
half a million dollars. Middlesex County has already
confirmed_ :a contribution of $50,000 towards the con-
struction costs. Craigwiel is also hoping the Ministry of
Health makes a significant contribution to the project.
The remainder of the money will come from dona-
tions made by the community to the project and from
internal sources at Craigwiel Gardens.
"We have always been well supported by Ailsa Craig
and area residents and the corporation envisions the
money spent on this project as an investment into our
• comi Dnity," said Brent Martin, Executive Director of
Craigwiel Gardens. "The. new facilities will continue to
provide the highest quality services to senior residents
of North Middlesex."
The only unfortunate circumstance of this project is
Craigwiel Gardens and Ansa Craig will be losing one of
itS landmarks.
The silo, that has stood on the site of the seniors com-
plex since it was transformed from a farm in the mid-
1970s, is slated for demolition. •'

cost effective way of saving the silo. The entire expan-
sion project is expected to be completed by mid-August.
