Congratulations to- the .1r. Choir, who received a
silver, and to the Triple Trio, who received a gold.
Way to sing!
The S.H.D.H.S. held their second ever Cabaret
last Saturday evening. The night was filled with
beautiful solos, duets and lots of jazzy music.
Congratulations to all students who participated!
As always, the music department succeeded in
giving an excellent performance.
All money raised from this event will go towards
bussing to the Nationals in Toronto in May. Though the
audience was enthusiastic for another, this will be the
only Cabaret of the year because of the busy schedules
of band and choir participants.
The Blood Donor Clinic is coming on Tues., May 4
from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.. until 8:30 p.m.
To participate in this, students must weigh at least 110
lbs., be free of serious sickness and bring photo/signa-
ture I.D. For more information, see the posters in the

Next Tues., you have the chance to save a person's
life. All it takes is a short amount of time out of a busy
day. So make another heart throb - give blood. Maybe
someone else will choose to do the same for you some-
day. (And plus, you get free cookies and juice!)
On Mon., May 3, ADA 3A students will be
doing an anthology called 'Addictions' for the
Grade 7 and 8 students from Exeter. Earlier
this year, the drama class was approached by
members of the Alcohol & Drug Recovery
Association about creating and performing an
educational drama program about alcohol and
drugs. The students have chosen to work with
the association for the goal of helping children
deal with alcohol and drug problems at home.

S.H.D.H.S. on Wed., May 5. In the morning,
professional actors from the Stratford Theater

Former Hensall woman fined, must
pay restitution for missing games
EXETER — The case of the missing Nintendo games
highlighted the docket at Exeter court last week.
Hamilton's Tammy Barnard, 28, received a $300
fine, 12 months probation and must make $366.80
restitution after Judge R.G.E. Hunter found her guilty
of theft in connection with four missing Nintendo 64
game cartridges from Exeter's Reel Time Video.
Reel Time co-owner Kristen Vandeworp testified
Barnard, formally of Hensall and Varna, rented the
games on Sept. 17, 1998. When Reel Time staff did a
late listing of their rentals the next day, their computer
files identified the games Barnard rented as late. When
staff called the phone number listed when Barnard
took out a membership . on Sept. 17, the number was
not in operation.
Vandeworp visited Barnard's Hensall apartment the
next day. She said the owner of the building Barnard
had lived in when she rented the games said Barnard
had moved out. Vandeworp said the games are still
missing despite. a thorough search of the business and
after questioning staff.
Barnard testified she did rent the games and admit-
ted keeping them several days past their due. She
explained the games had been forgotten because of her
frequent commuting from the Exeter area to Hamilton
where her family was moving to.
She said she returne'd the games to Reel Time on Oct.
(, alter she talked to the OPP about the
matter the day before.
Upon Crown cross-examination,
Barnard said she simply entered the
store and placed the games on the
counter and left without paying late fees
or talking with staff.
Barnard's husband, Richard Barnard Sr., admitted in
his testimony he was the one playing the games and
was present when his wife talked to police and when
she returned the games (he was in the car with their
three children). He said he had no transportation to
return the games from where they were living in
Varna (where the family had moved t'ronm Hensall) and
his wife WiLS often out of town.
.Judge Bunter said he didn't believe Tammy Barnard
and found her guilty, adding a phone call to Reel Time
would have resolved the matter.

The OPP observed Sutherland go through the stop
sign at 100 km/h while southbound on Hay Conc. ':3
over H-wy. 83 in Stephen "township on March 20 at
2:50 a.m. The O1'P followed Sutherland whose vehicle
