Mark Garlough was the organist. Sue Riley was the greeter and also lit the candle. Pat Pryde and Barb Gackstetter received the offering. An anthem was sung by the choir. The annual beef supper will be held on April 21 with sittings at 5 and 6:30 p.m. For tickets call Marg Cole at 262-2304. Take-out orders are available. Accommodations for the International Plowing Match are needed. If you have a spare room, call the church office. Breakfast will be supplied at the church. The $50 charge will go to the church. At Hensall Carmel Presbyterian Church, Tracy Bahro was the speaker. Joyce Pepper was the organist. Bahro congratulated everyone on the successful luncheon. She also had good news to report on Brent Steckle. The offering was taken by Harry Smith and Al Hoggarth. An anniversary service will be held on May 30 with Rev. Nick Vandermey. Zone Commander June Pyette and her husband Ed attended the Hensall Legion meeting for April, when the new slate of officers was installed. Conducting the new installations was Zone Commander June Pyette. The officers for the coming year are president Dave Smale, first vice president Larry Uyl, second vice presi- dent Gerry Glenn, secretary treasurer Bea Uyl, and branch padre Pirie Mitchell. Executive members are Stewart Taylor, Betty Taylor, Iva Reid, Donna Smale and Kathy Neilands. Donations totalling $550 were made. $300 was donated to the Cadet Corps #2923, $100 to the South Huron Fair Board, $100 to the Children's Aid Society to send a child to camp, and $50 to the Canadian Red Cross. On April 28 there will be a Seniors Spring Tea at the Legion. A dessert will begin at 1 p.m. followed by an afternoon of cards and games. The Hensall Parks Board will be hosting a Smart Serve Training Program on May 13. Smart Serve is an education program to aid in the development of skills for responsible alcohol service. Responsible servers know how to prevent problems from occurring; responsible servers know how to intervene when prob- lems do occur. It is excellent training for full and part- time bartenders and security staff. Caterers, managers, owners, members of community organizations and even Special Occasion Permit Holders would all benefit from this session. . Smart Serve will be held at the Hensall Community Centre, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Kdvance registration is required and spaces are limited. Additional informa- Hospital Auxiliary meeting EXETER - The regular meeting of South Huron Hospital Auxiliary was held on April 13 with President Mary Fisher presiding. Nominating committee convener Alma Langford read the list of officers for the next two years. They will be installed at the May meet- ing. Gift shop convener Grace Adkins reported the annual quilt was quilted and would be ready for ticket sales at the rummage sale on April 28 and 29. The pro- posed By-law changes were read by Olga Davis, and -will be voted on at the May meeting. Staff representative Maureen Cole introduced Janice Casgrove. She gave a brief report on her new role as Site Administrator for the hospital in Exeter, Goderich and Clinton. Approximately 15 of the members will be attend- ing the Spring Conference on April 26 in Clinton. The guest speaker was Dolores Shapton. Her topic was "The History of Quilting". Shapton reported that over 2000 people attended the International Plowing Match quilt show at South Huron Recreation Centre on April 8-11. Curbside green pickup continues in Hensall until April 26, 1999. Beginning In May, the Hensall Compost Facility site will be open the second Saturday of each month. Hensall residents will be able to take their green waste to the site. All the same guidelines for the green waste will apply. Green waste must: be in man- ageable bundles, no longer than 4 feet in length; weigh no more than 45 pounds; be in cardboard boxes or containers that can be dumped. Bagged material, sod, rocks and stones are not acceptable. Charges will be $12 for a full-size pickup truck, or $1 per box/contain- er that can be dumped, payable at the time of dump- ing. There will not be any access to the landfill site at these times. Compost is available for purchase from the Hensall Compost Facility, available in bulk purchases from the site. Anyone wishing to purchase compost should con- tact the• Hensall Municipal Office, 262-2812. Arrangements must be made in advance. The fee for compost is $20 per cubic yard, payable in advance or at the time of pickup. Hensall organizations are working on plans for a community dinner, in conjunction with the International year of Older Persons. All community groups in Hensall and area are being asked to submit the name of one member for acknowledgement. Presentations to these members will be made at the Community Dinner. This event is scheduled for June 25 at the Hensall Community Centre. Tickets will be avail- able soon. The War Amps JUMPSTA RT into the Winner's Circle DISCRIMINATION and PREJUDICE, although unintentional, are out there. JUMPSTART is ''the great equalizer" for child amputees missing multiple limbs. JUMPSTART provides these "Super Champs" with a computer and assistive devices to keep up with school work. When they're older, they will have the career skills they need. The CHAMP Program gives additional help.
