The Icy Cafe offers unique experience for customers
EXETER — For the
owner of Exeter's new
cafe, the businessgives
her a chance to offer
something unique to
downtown shoppers.
Simone Metzger
opened The Icy Cafe last
week in the former loca-
tion of Quilts and Calicos
on Main Street and said
she is pleased with how
things are going.
"I'rn very, very happy
with the business. We
are always packed dur-
ing lunchtime," Metzger
said.
She said her cafe is
ideal for someone who
wants a nicely -flavoured
coffee in a nice atmos-
phere.
Metzger admits she
isn't surprised at her
business's quick success.
She said many people
around town told her a
cafe would be successful
in town.
And Metzger, who was
born in Germany and
moved to Canada two
years ago where she
lives in Brucefield,
stresses that The Icy
Cafe is a cafe and not a
coffee shop.
Fully licenced, lunch is
Metzger's busiest time
and salads, soups and
pastas are available.
There are also many
desserts on the menu.
The name of Metzger's
business comes from
Germany where ice
cafes are a type of cafe
which offer desserts
such as ice creams.
Metzger said The Icy
Cafe's name is "some-
thing different" for
Canadians, who con-
stantly ask her what the
Icy Cafe owner Simone Metzger, who opened the cafe
last week, says she's pleased with business so far.

While she just started
her business, Metzger
has one full-time and
two part-time employ-

with working hard for
her and says the staff's
team work is what has
made her first week suc-

She adds that other
business owners down-
town have been helpful
and treated her well.
The Icy Cafe is
Metzger's first business

self as "very, very ner-

In the process of reno-
vating the building,
which included knocking
down a wall and "adding
character", Metzger has
learned owning a busi-

While the business,
