Honouring years of service
Huron District Scouting held their annual awards banquet Saturday night at
the Exeter Legion, recognizing individuals for their years of service. Among the
many winners were from left, Dennis Krysak (35 years), Ken Cutt (25 years),
Lynn Ross (25 years) and Bob Ball (35 years). The Huron District extends to
Blyth, Clinton and Goderich in the north and Ailsa Craig in the south. The 1
groups consist of 630 members.

Compost facility open one Saturday a month

HENSALL — Curbside
collection of green waste
will stop May 1 in Hen-
sall following a decision
at a special April 6 coun-
cil meeting.
The decision was made
because not enough peo-
ple used the service
while others abused the
service, according to
meeting minutes.
Staff and councillors
received unfavourable
comments from residents
on the decision' and re-
visited the topic at Mon-
day night's council meet-
ing.
On a trial basis, the
compost facility will be
open the second Sat-
urday of each month
from 9-11 a.m. for green
waste. A full size pick-up
truck will cost $12 and a
cardboard box or con-
tainer that can be
dumped will be $1.

LUCAN — An event
next week in Lucan will
give those interested a
chance to support vic-
tims of domestic abuse.
Lucan's Youth Uniting
Communities group is
holding a candlelight vig-
il at Market Street Park
on April 20 at 8 p.m.
The vigil, called Lucan
Remembers, was in-
spired by the murder -
suicide of Brenda and
Joel Chillingworth in the
village in January.
The group plans to
have guest speakers
from the Women's Com-
munity House in London
and the Women's Rural
Resource Centre in
.Strathroy. After the vigil,
the group will march to
the United Church at 142
Main St. for refresh-
ments and a social hour.

Renews Union
Gas agreement
Council passed a by-
law to enter into a 20 -
year franchise agree-
ment with Union Gas
Ltd. The bylaw received
first and second read-
ings in October and has
been approved by the
Ontario Energy Board.
The previous agree-
ment was a 30 -year
agreement.
