New Tech 21 program
finds location
by Michele Greene
SEAFORTH- - A new design and technology/family
studies program for Grade 7/8 students in Stratford, St:
Marys and Mitchell will be located at Stratford Central
Secondary School.
Last Tuesday night in Seaforth, Avon Maitland
District School Board trustees reviewed additional
information sought by administration on the ideal loca-
tion for the new program, known as Tech 21.
"Central loses the least amount of space and gains
some improvements," said superintendent Janet
Baird -Jackson.
Trustees also considered Stratford Northwestern
Secondary School (SNWSS) as a possible location.
"There is the potential to pursue something that.
would be of benefit to both boards," she said.
SNWSS is located adjacent to St. Michael Roman
Catholic Separate School, operated by the Huron -Perth
Roman Catholic Separate School Board. A SERC Tech
program would benefit both schools. Locating the
Tech21 program at SNWSS could eliminate those pos-
sibilities, she said.
The existing design and technology/family studies
programs in the three urban areas will be eliminated
and centralized at Stratford Central Secondary School.
The plan will increase sp ice in the existing elementary
schools, reducing the need for -sortables. It will also
allow more students to access more advanced equip-
ment.

Lucan library delayed,
original architect fired
LUCAN BIDDULPH —
Readers hoping for a
new library in Lucan are
going to have to wait a
little longer.
Although the
$300,000 li-
brary was
supposed to
be finished
by the end
of January,
ground was
never brok-
en and the
original ar-
chitect, Glen Herglotz,
was recently fired be-
cause drawings weren't
finished in time and the
arena board wasn't hap-
py with how things were
progressing.
Lucan Biddulph coun-
cillor and arena board
chairperson Perry Cas -
planned
kanette told the T -A
Monday night "a library
will be built, it's just a
matter of when."
A new architect, Paul
Kershaw of London, has
been hired
and Cas-
kanette
said it will
probably
take about
six weeks
for Ker-
shaw to
finish
drawings for a new
3,000 sq. ft. library.
Kershaw will need to
start from scratch, Cas-
kanette said, because
Herglotz's • drawings
were flawed because
they had the library too
close to the road.
The arena board met
"a library will be
built, it's just a
matter of when."

COMPACT STARTER HOME BOASTS EFFICIENT LAYOUT
Low square footage and a simple roof and foundation plan make this design an ideal choice for
first time home buyers.
An open plan for the living and dining room creates a spacious atmosphere for formal
entertaining, and features a vaulted ceiling and a boxed our feature window. The cook in the
family will enjoy an efficient "U" shaped work area complete with plenty of cupboard and counter
space and a pantry. The family room, open to the kitchen, has a cozy gas fireplace. Upstairs, all
three bedrooms are a good size. An open den provides an excellent spot for the family computer.
The master bedroom features a window seat, a walk-in closet, and a four piece ensuite.
An unfinished basement awaits your own creative touch.
Plans for U-1083 may be obtained for $375.00 for a package of five complete sets' of working
prints and $30.00 for each additional set of the same plan. Allow $15.00 extra to cover thb cost
of postage and handling (B.C. residents add 7% to plan total plus postage and handling). All
Canadian residents add 7% to plan total plus postage and handling.
This is one of our new designs. Many innovative plans are now available in our NEW catalogue:

council, the Lions Club
and members of the
county library system to
discuss what kind of li-
brary the municipality
needs. Caskanette said
members want a library
big enough (the current
library is too' small) and
they want the library to
be all on one floor,
avoiding the need for an
elevator and making it
possible for only one per-
son to work in the li-
brary at a time.
While Caskanette
wouldn't be specific
when the library will
break ground, he said
Lucan Biddulph will have
a new library by the end
of the year.,
