Bruce Delbridge gave the Prayer of Approach. Gerald Cunnington led in the • Prayer of Confession and the Assurance of Pardon. Parker lit the Christ can- dle with Corey Smith assisting. She told the youth a story about differ- ent candles, the church candle, the circle of friends candle, the peace candle, birthday candles. Candles were lit by Jessica Bray, Amber Cooper, Mirjam Veldman and Zachary Kadey. The choir sang "Blessed Redeemer" accompanied by organist Marilyn Vandenbussche. John Batten read scriptures. Delbridge led the responsive psalm. The meditation entitled "the Feast" was given by Parker. Board chatrpersoti John Miner called each of the council forward: secretary Marilyn Pym; treasurer Shirley Kerslake and Rev. Delmar Skinner and Elson Lynn received the offering and were the greeters. Bruce Delbridge gave a prayer. The flowers on the plat- form were placed in mem- ory of the late Lawrence Cole. Sympathy is extend- ed to his . family and sends. Marilyn 'yin gave the congregational prayer. Announcements On March 3 the Standing Committee met at 7 p.m. followed by a council meeting at 8:30 p.m. in Thames Road Church. On March 5 the World Day of Prayer service will be held at Thames Road at 2 p.m. On March 11 the Sunbeams will meet at Thames Road from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (Note change of date). On March 9 the U.C.W. will meet at Elimville at 8 p.m. (Note change of place). The program wilt be presented by Carolyn Johns, Pat Ballantine, Joyce Fulton, Jean Hodgert and Anne Bray. The roll call will be "Tell about the picture you have carried in your wallet the longest." Group W will serve lunch. On March 14 the choir will be hosting a pancake and saus'hge brunch after the church service. Lucan 4-H club members design wearable art pieces A "Once in A Blue Moon" appreciation ban- quet for adults will be held March 31. At the church service on March 7 in Eiimville, items for the Food Bank will be collected. PQM Many people called at the Hopper -Hockey Funeral Home last week to pay their respects to the late Chris Wilhelm and Lawrence Cole. Sympathy is extended to . the families and relatives. Trip to Toronto Brenda Elford, Brenda Miner, Heather Morgan, Heather Parsons, Kristy Bray and Robyn Etherington were wel- comed home as they returned with their lead- ers Virginia Warwick, Carolyn Johns and Rev. Marilyn Carter from a weekend in Toronto. The group was part of a Toronto Ontario Opportunities for Learning and Service (T.O.O.L.S.) weekend. Their agenda included a train ride to Toronto, the use of Toronto's various transit systems, serving LUCAN - Over the past two weeks, the Lucan III 4-H Club has held two meetings of the Wearable Art Project. At meeting three, the members were asked to bring magazine pictures and explain why they liked or disliked them. The group discussed their special project arti- cles. Examples included decorated pants and shirts, and all types of home-made ` jewellery. There was a demonstra- tion on how to create bal- ance and symmetry in a picture. The craft of the meeting was how to make a hemp necklace. At meeting four, the. group worked on ideas for their Achievement Day. They decided to hold a fashion show to exhibit their projects. The members were given different coloured construction paper pieces to arrange into art forms. They were told to use the guidelines that they were taught earlier. They paint- ed and put together angel pins.. supper to the homeless in an•.'Out of the Cold' pro- gram, a tour of a year- round refuge, 4nd work in one of Toronto's largest food banks. The most eye- opening experience for the group was a guided tour of Toronto's downtown by previous streetpeople. The weekend ended with a church,service at the little Trinity Anglican Church where the Associate Rector Duke Vipperman gave a very powerful ser- mon on "Discipleship". Vipperman had previously ministered in Exeter. The congregation helped make the trip possible and Ken Kadey • took the group to and From the train sta- tion in London.
