EXETER — We have a
dangerous copycat in
Exeter.
South Huron District
High School was evacuat-
ed at about 2 p.m. Friday
afternoon, after a school
secretary answered a
telephone bomb threat.
A fire alarm was pulled
to start the evacuation.
Principal Deb Homuth
said the call came in near
the end of the first period
after lunch.
Exeter OPP responded.
to the call but first called
London OPP's canine unit.
The students were
Moved to South .Huron
Rec Centre • for the
remainder of the after-
noon.
The OPP searched the
school and gave its all
clear signal at about 4
p.m.
Homuth said the stu-
dents were • then let back
into. the school to . pick up
Aairk
any 'clothes, books and
other materials they
needed over the weekend.
The buses were delayed
due to the search.
Exeter Public School's
three most southern
classes were moved to the
centre of the school as a
precautionary measure.
Students of that school
went home at their regu-
lar time though they exit-
ed through the most
northern doors and were
led around the- school to
the buses.
Homuth is confident the
OPP and the school will
find the culprit described
as having a young male
voice.
"We expect it was a stu-
dent of ours," Homuth
said. "There will.be crimi-
nal charges laid and
school disciplinary action
when this person is
caught."
