Bank and Kinsmen and Kinette clubs across Canada to do- nate toys to serve the needs of children. Kinette Julie Ritchie, right, with Luke Alexander, Taylor Moir, Da- nielle Meikle, jecelyn Butler and Jayden Butler sit amidst the 36 toys and games destined for the Huron Christmas Bureau through the Hensall Kinettes who donated their Royal Rewards Points for Toys from their credit cards.The Hensall Kinettes also donated $ 100 to the Bureau. The Big Snowstorm Amy Lightfoot, Grade 3 Usborne Central Once upon a time on Christmas Eve we. were in bed waiting for Santa to come. We were up -ce'ry late. Then Dena. said.. "Let's go to -sleep now." So .,we tried to ger to . sleep -but we just could- rr'1. We turned on the .radio and we heard. "Santa is stuck in the snow and can't get out'" "0h,oh," said Lisa. "If ,Santa, is stuck then hey can't give us some pre- . seats." "Let's Just go 'to sleep.'' said Sandra.' It was still snowing very hard. We -tried to 'go' to sleep. ,Then. 1 had an idea. "What if we go to sleep and don't think about anything. He will come." "Well it's worth a try!" said Dena. Sb we went to sleep for two hours and . then woke up because it wasn't ,work- ing Su we thought and thought for half an hour. Then Lisa had an idea.. "Let's wish that ,the bliza,rd ,would stop.' So we started to wish and the • snowstorm slowed down) 'Then we gut really sleepy and fell asleep. When we were asleep Santa carne and left us presents.. In the morning we had lots of fun. Sandra said. "'It looks like -Santa came after all;" and he did! Christmas Eve Melanie Bullock McGillivray School When John and Jane were walking home- from.. their grandma's house un Christmas Eve. they hoped to see Santa's sleigh and the reindeer in the sky. All because of the children's wandering eyes they saw that . Santa flew eery • near: guided by Rudolph's red nese. - They laughed and cheered with glee- when Santa's -"Ho. Ho, 1}o" they heard. Jane and John rushed hone and 'becaue they had been good all yeas, many presents lay under the tree and stock- ings-we_re tilled briurr-full. In all the excitement, Jane came from the kitchen where she was drinking egg nog aria look- ing at a book and said, "Please don't forget, this -night is because of long ago, when baby Jesus lay in the manger, and the wise men travelling from afar, guided by the,. bright north star., that in.the same sky shines still as bright." Opening presents .the very next day, the chil- dren's dreams did come true, not stoners Iwr lumps of coal, but a dog, a toddy bear, some .games and a cute little puppy. Some hours later the family arrived. and talked fur awhile. They sang Christina songs as they carne to the dinner table. They feasted and smiled and had a,great time. When it was all over, the children again remem- bered the stories from long ago as they gaze, up into the starry sky. Ike North t► Star they glanced upon as they said their prayers.
