The Exeter council com- mittee. of the whole passed a motion to divide the•. • money • evenly between 16 charities, that • applied for the" funds. The pot of cash came from the province which gave the municipality the "privilege" of dividing this one-time-.ainount. The province eliminated roving Monte Carlo events when the tour large casi- nos became operational_ in Ontario. Exeter trea- surer Liz Bell reported the province allocated a lump sum of money to charities in. each munici- pality . Exeter's share • - being $16,517. Town staff notified all } the charities that had - applied for lottery licens- es in Exeter during the past five years that the money was available. Not all responded. - - Thefollowing organiza- tions did respond and will- - share the money' evenly: Huron Safe homes for Youth, South Huron _Big Brothers/Sisters, First • Exeter Si:outs, Sunshine Kids Co-op Preschool,. Exeter ' Public School Parents, Precision Skating' Club, Exeter: Figure Skating Club, Exeter Minor hockey and Soccer Associations, .Community Living, Amigo Residential home, Huron Adult Day Centre, Cystic Fibrosis, 'South Huron hospital Auxiliary; Exeter Lions • and Lioness -Clubs. Town stall' will forward the town's application to the province and the. After Baird -Jackson's presentation members of the public will be able to ask questions. •• . The .review has been looking at the financial via- bility of.all of the board's schools as well- as staffing:, programs, enrolment and any" potential . renovations needed. . The. school accommodation- review follows a •controversial period in which the board had released a -list of schools that could potentially be closed.. While that list was eventually rejected by the board, the: accommodation review. could also recommend that certain schools be closed. • Director of Dducation Lorne Rachlis, however, has told the T -A if the. board. decides- to release a list of schools. to be potentially closed, it likely. won't include as.many as the original list, in which 14 schools across the board could have been closed. -Following 'tonight's meeting, a- report to .the. board will -be made on Dec. 8 at the Clinton office.
