said the girls "improved
immensely in the week•
between the Huron -Porth
championship (where
they finished first) and
WOSSA, adding this Is the
fust SHDHS team to qual-
ify for OFSAA cross-coun-
try in several years.
"The girls had to learn
to believe in themselves, "
Fulop said.
"They proved to be good
enough to make it even
though they trained only
half as long as their oppo-
sition."
While the senior girls
excelled, the Panther
senior boys slumped a bit,
Fulop said, by finishing
sixth.
Dan Snell and Dave
Robilliard finished in the
top third of the field.
Henny Pfaff ran well to be
the. third Panther in, with
Brian Harrigan the fourth
and Jason Brown, Shaun
Jennison and Tim Hundy
all with strong races.
The midget boys fin-
ished eighth. Good runs
were put in by Dan
Spence, Chris
•VariEsbroeck, Matt Ake
and Chad Swance.
South'HuronDistrict High School sr. girls basketball
player Jessica Davies finds herself corned by a
.Goderich defender during their game at SHDHS last
Wednesday. SHDHS lost 67-13 to:a "vastly superior
team," coach Terry O'Rourke said.The Panther
juniors also lost to Goderich 54-31 (only six players
available due to school trip) while, the midgets won
.55-32.The Panther seniors lost all three games during
their South Huron Girls Invitational tourney on
Saturday: 28-20 to Seaforth (Dana Thiel with eight
points), 40-28 to St.Anne's (Thiel -6 points, Meaghan
O'Rourke -6) and 51-20 to Mitchell (Jamie Reaburn-6,
O'Rourke -4. Marylou Hern-4)
Off to OFSAA. The South -Huron District High School senior girls cross-coun-
try team finished third at WOSSA Thursday and now move.on to the OFSAA

Milverton Sunday.
Milverton jumped to
a 2-0 lead before Chris
Downie scored for
Hensel] on the power-
play with assists going
to Chad Ramer and
John Bell.
Then Milverton
scored six unanswered
goals -while keeping
Hansall off the score-
board for the entire
second period.
Hensall goaltender
Darren Kindts was
replaced by
CoryGingerich half-
way through the sec-
ond period; but the
change did the
Sherwoods no good
against the superior
Milverton attack.
