Lucan Irish 14 for week
LUCAN - The Lucan Jr.
1) Irish hockey club some-
times acts like two differ-
ent teams on given nights. •
Wednesday's battle at.,
home versus •Seaforth
ended in.a 6-1 Irish win
while Friday's match in
Mitchell found l.ucan
,down'6-1 at the •final
buzzer.
The Seaforth game was
marred by a brawl in the
third period in front of the
Seaforth bench. •
All six Irish players that •
were on the ice, including
goaltender Mike Royce,
mixed it up while seven
Seaforth players, (all play-
ers on the ice. plus once)
got involved.
Five Irish players -and
.six Seaforth players war*-
. handed two -game sus-
pensions for their part in
the fracas. - •
"They were swinging
from the bench," Irish co-
oach Jason-Bukala said
about the Seaforth play-
'ers.
The spunk sparked the
Irish to. the win on
Wednesday, Bukala said.
"We played with a lot of
emotion," he said. "It was •
a bit of a carry over.
,Seaforth has put us out of
the playoffs three years
running."
•That emotion seemed to
be out to lunch on Friday.
"We were an altogether
different team," Bukala
said. "Their goaltender
was awesome." -
The shots on goal may
•have been only 30-28 in
Mitchell's favour, but
their -backstop made the
saves he had to at thie
right time.
While happy his team is
scoring goals in bunches
Bukala said they need to
work on team defence.
The Irish put their.4-3
record on the- line at
home tonight versus
-'Mo'unt Brydges,
p:in. -start, and travel to
• Parkhill North Middlesex.
