French described what it felt, like before. during
and after the disappearance -of her daughter. Kristen.
-Kristen went missing April 16. 1992. and police•
• found her body .in Burlington two -weeks, later. Pau!
. Bernardo and, Karla Iloinolka were later arrested..
charged and•cunvicted in the deaths of Kristen.and
Leslie Mattafly.
French had high praise .for the police officers her
family encountered and -harsh words for the media
and the justice system she Fels betrayed her family.
While the media was at -first sensitive and co-opera-
tive with the family. French said the media later sen-
sationalized her daughters murder and even pub-
lished inaccurate -details and information that could
have jeopardized -the Crown's case.
ltrench also feels -the justice system let her family
down. especially with the possibility the video tapes
