The Ministry of Education and Training is establishing and setting aside funding.for ESL programs in the new funding model. There are currently 213 students in the board that need ESL instruc- tion, with 16 in the secondary level and .197 students in the elementary level. Because the students have been scattered across the district, no specif- ic classroom or teacher has been set aside for ESL programming. Arthur Duboyce, superintendent, said if the board approves the motion, it can proceed immediately with implementing the program. The teachers will set up a specific protocol for ESL instruction across the jurisdiction and direct the delivery of the programs. Trustee Wendy Anderson asked if the funding was "enveloped" or restricted to ESL programs only. Marilyn Ivlarklevitz, superintendent of business and finance, said the funding doesn't appear to enveloped, although only preliminary details are available now. "Often the needs of the students go beyond the language," said Duboyce. So, the money can be used to cover special education, early childhood education or social services when needed. rIr Graduate - Paige is very pleased to announce the graduation of her Daddy, Christopher G. Vernon Dean Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle There's a Spanish story of a father and son who had become estranged. The son ran away, and the father. set off to find him. He searched for months to no avail. Finally, in a last desperate effort to find him, the father put an ad in a Madrid newspaper. The ad read: "Dear Paco, meet me in front of this newspaper office at noon on Saturday. All is forgiven. I love you. Your Father." On Saturday 800 Pacos showed up, looking for forgiveness • and love from their fathers. How many fathers need to take the giant step to be reconciled and restored to their son or daughter? Don't wait until it takes a newspaper ad to find that one who is estranged. , CHEVROLET'LUMINA /38 months/S1,630 down payment AN AWARD-WINNING CHEVROLET THAT WILL DELIVER MORE THAN EXPECTED WITH... 2.4 litre Twin Cam engine • automatic transmission • 4 -wheel ABS • dual front air bags • child -security door locks • PASSLock-" theft -deterrent system • AM/FM stereo with cassette • air conditioning • power trunk release /36 months/$l,b6o down payment STRAIGHTFORWARD CHEVROLET VALUE YOU CAN TRUST IN A 4' SIX -PASSENGER CAR... 3.1 litre V6 engine • automatic transmission • 4 wheel ABS • dual front air bags • child -security rear door locks • PASS -Key II theft -deterrent system • air conditioning • AM/FM stereo with cassette • remote keyless entry • power windows/door locks/trunk release /38 months/12.850 down payment OLDSMOBILE'S SOPHISTICATED SPORTY FIVE -PASSENGER SEDAN WITH WORLD-CLASS PERFORMANCE 195 HP 3600 Series II V6 engine • full -function Traction control • high-perfor- mance four-wheel independent suspension • electronically controlled automatic transmission with overdrive 16' alloy wheels • 4 -wheel ABS • remote keyless entry • air conditioning The GM Card' You should know this: 'Based on a 36 month leas* for '96 Caveats Couper98 Makbur96 Luminar9e Apua A down or trade ol $750Vs1.63014.86042.650 ars required.
